one of my audiophile peoples got new gear for xmas and let me listen to this on their set up. i already loved the album, but hearing it properly tuned and eq'd through a good pair of cans is truly awe inspiring. i was hearing chords, instruments, harmonies, background lyrics...shyt i didn't even know was in there. album been out less than a month and i already have a new found appreciation for it. the system in my car is decent, but now i might have to actually spend more than $20 for a good pair of headphones. this album alone would make it worth it.

Just got back from digging through my storage shed to find my $1000 headphones :blessed:

Mine are more suited for electronic based music that they are for live instrumentation, but I still expect the album to shine on them

This really feels like it could be a landmark album, probably the first true landmark in quite a while (I'm having a tough time thinking of anything more recent than Kid A or Is This It)

What I mean by landmark album is not just the quality, but also the potential impact on the future of music

This really could shape R&B/Soul in the coming years in the same way that Hip Hop music shaped it through the 90's

I honestly can visualize someone even like Justin Timberlake just saying fukk it and hiring the best group of studio musicians and songwriters he can find and trying to pull off something similar with no attention paid to commercial success.

Thats a more extreme example, but I think the musicianship here will have an influence from Hip Hop to Soul to R&B and even into Indie Rock music.

I hope that it can influence musicians to get back to the music. And to stop caring about trying to score a hit song and get back to
try doing a hit album instead.. Are just try being creative again with the music.

Hey brehs, anybody know the story on this instrumental? Is there a full version of this song? Has anyone ever used this? :lupe:

1st time hearing it, props for the find, about to mp3 the track.

Side note: This might get lost in here, however seeing as most if not all of the D'Angelo fans on the board are in this thread I will recommend picking this up if you like his live music. I just got it from Amazon, over here jammin as I type.
