One thing though fellas, AB may not put up Randy Moss type numbers. It's always a slim possiblity that he does a Chad Johnson and can't pick up the offense. Chad had great footwork and just couldn't grasp the offense. Again, it's rare this happens. But Brown isn't gonna see the targets he saw in Pittsburgh.

chad johnson was done though breh
dude had 1 1000 season in the past 3 years before when went to new england

I never usually post the athletic articles outside of the athletic threads. But they have sources that believed this was all planned

Antonio Brown would be a unique reclamation project, even by Bill Belichick’s standards.

Brown has agreed to join the Patriots, reportedly on a one-year, $15 million contract that includes a $9 million signing bonus. Because the deal wasn’t signed before 4 p.m. Saturday, Brown won’t be eligible to play Sunday against the Steelers.

But when he makes his Patriots debut — or if he does, if one is skeptical after his rocky Raiders tenure — Brown could rocket to the top of a distinguished list of players Belichick has restored, whether by performance, reputation or both.

Safe to say, there’s never been a story like the one Brown wrote this summer. The ending has yet to be written, though there’s a theory the next chapter has been envisioned for some time.

There are teams around the NFL that believe Brown wanted to be a Patriot all along, and Brown might have just been doing anything possible to propel himself out of Oakland. This theory was presented to The Athletic on Saturday before the Raiders’ release of Brown and not with cynicism or even anger as much as it was just an acceptance of what was to come.

It would add up. There were reports in March that the Patriots inquired about Brown’s availability prior to the Steelers’ trade with the Raiders. It would be understandable if the Steelers didn’t want to trade one of the league’s most talented players up north to the Super Bowl champs, who are also 11-3 against the Steelers with Tom Brady starting.

And if it’s true Brown was purposely angling his way out of Oakland to join the Patriots, it would reinforce an offense that was already loaded at receiver with Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon and Demaryius Thomas, plus Phillip Dorsett, Jakobi Meyers, Gunner Olszewski and first-round pick N’Keal Harry, who is expected to return from injured reserve in the middle of the season. Plus, the Patriots have a stacked depth chart at running back with Sony Michel, James White, Rex Burkhead and Damien Harris, so it’s not hard to envision where Brady will set his scope in the absence of retired tight end Rob Gronkowski.

If it doesn’t work with Brown, it would be because he hasn’t prioritized football at this stage of his career. He was a sixth-round pick out of Central Michigan in 2010 who broke out because of his absolutely ruthless and relentless work ethic, according to those who trained with him early in his career. That translated to four consecutive first-team All-Pro selections from 2014 to 2017, seven Pro Bowls and six consecutive seasons with at least 100 receptions, including two when he led the league in catches and two when he ranked No. 1 in yards.

Belichick has gotten the best out of some who have shot their way out of other organizations or at least appeared to be on the backside of their careers, starting with safety Rodney Harrison in 2003 and running back Corey Dillon in 2004. Harrison, who was viewed as a dirty player with the Chargers, was just inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame. Dillon was a mercurial personality with the Bengals but became a centerpiece on the way to Super Bowl XXXIX.

The most famous example has been Randy Moss, who wore out his welcome with the Vikings and admitted to not caring as much during his two seasons with the Raiders. He set an NFL record with 23 touchdown receptions in his first season with the Patriots in 2007 and paced Matt Cassel’s offense in 2008, but things soured in his final year and a half before his midseason ouster in 2010.

There are other success stories to varying degrees, such as defensive tackle Alan Branch, cornerback Darrelle Revis, running back LeGarrette Blount, wide receiver Brandon Lloyd and even safety Patrick Chung and linebacker Jamie Collins.

And then there’s Gordon, who proved last season he could still play at a high level after the Browns got tired of his league and team suspensions. Of course, Gordon was indefinitely suspended in December, but he was reinstated last month and could again become a key contributor in 2019. Like Brown and his surreal summer, there’s never been a comparable player to Gordon, but the Patriots have stuck by him for the past year.

Belichick’s record with these second-chance players is unparalleled, but it’s obviously not perfect. Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was released midway through his first season, and wide receiver Chad Ochocinco was a nonfactor in his lone go-round in New England. Receivers like Reggie Wayne and Joey Galloway also quickly flailed out.

As Belichick and the Patriots often say, this place isn’t for everyone, and it becomes quickly apparent when it won’t work with those who don’t have the effort to cut it. Every practice rep matters. No one takes a period off in practice. There are significant fines or levels of discipline for even being late for meetings, let alone missing one.

If Brown repeats any of the missteps that he showed with the Raiders — and there were plenty — he’ll be gone. And while it was an eye-opener to see the Patriots give him a $9 million signing bonus, the Raiders gave him $29 million “guaranteed,” but Brown announced the team voided all of it because of his run-ins with coaches and management. Teams are within their rights to do so by suspending a player for detrimental conduct. If all goes south with Brown and the Patriots, similar recourse could be on the table.

It’d be hard to believe Brown’s résumé with the Raiders if it weren’t so heavily broadcasted in real time. His feet were frostbitten in a cryogenic chamber, he fought the NFL and team when he was forced to comply with the new helmet mandate, he swore at general manager Mike Mayock before punting a ball and walking off the practice field, he posted Mayock’s letter about his fines on social media, then he did the same with a phone call with head coach Jon Gruden, and Saturday morning he asked for his release.

And then Belichick opened the drawbridge to the castle with a $15 million bag in tow.

Belichick may theoretically have nothing to lose. He just signed one of the league’s best players to help out his 42-year-old quarterback and remove some of the burden from Edelman, Gordon and Thomas without Gronkowski. Brown can still play at the highest level, and there isn’t a player on the planet who doesn’t recognize that fact.

While there are countless perceived reasons Brown shouldn’t work as a Patriot, it takes only one man — Bill Belichick — to believe Brown can thrive. And by giving a $15 million contract, make no mistake, Belichick expects Brown to thrive.

If it falls apart, Belichick can reaffirm his message to the locker room that a certain standard must be met, regardless of a player’s talent.

Now it’s up to Brown, most importantly, and Belichick to prove they’re a pairing without peer. If Brown salvages his reputation with the Patriots, it’d be a legendary comeback.

AB never wanted to be a Raider which is why he acted up..

I think he knew the Pats would be waiting to pick him up because the Pats know that even the most flamboyant player will act right with them.

The Pats are the finesse team of the century! As a Raider fan we first lost Moss and now AB to them a$$holes!

The Pats may fukk around and get Gronk back too! As much as I hate the Fake Cheats, I also admire them at the same time! They do NOT play! They are ALL ABOUT winning, by any means necessary!!

Watch AB be quiet as a church mouse while killing opposing teams! They could damn near go undefeated this year with all those weapons. Smh..
