Michael outdid the jacksons 10 fold.

mj came up in the later 1970s/80's when album sales were at an all time high

Going off stats both dc and nsync were bigger than bey and jt.

they became solo artists during the rise of file sharing/downloads so it killed their raw numbers but beyonce as a solo act is bigger/more global than destinys child ever was

Nice try. The girl wasnt some solo superstar. Wheres her succcess without dc during 2001? Stats not fairy tales bro.

This board doesn’t really like Beyoncé so they won’t see it how it really is

Album sales were selling during the jackson’s time too. Michael was just a superstar with or without the group.

Lmao at them excuses. Usher went diamond that same year Beyonce debut with NO GROUP OR JAYZ.

Beyonce more global but aint got no 8x platinum album like dc? And Beyonce’s biggest hit is you guessed it.. with jay z (crazy in love)

No we’re in here acting like Aaliyah can sing
:wow:
Well going off the facts, “non singing” Aaliyah was casted by Whitney Houston to star in “Sparkle”. A movie about singing.

That same year, Beyonce was casted in “carmen” by mtv to be a straight to dvd flick.

Aaliyah’s voice carried her farther. She was the better singer then.

Beyonce had no vocals in Aaliyah’s era. She used to sing off key and scream.

Neither were amazing. But beyonce gets a pass because she’s a great singer now. But she wasnt always that great.

when you're in a group as the leader, you're the biggest attraction and the superstar. See Michael Jackson and Timberlake for examples.
timberlake wasn't the star, jc was. it wasn't until JT started rocking cornrows and beatboxing that he started surpassing JC and that's more because he set himself up to scoop the black audience

This post will go unnoticed, but it is true. I remember the remix with Blaque that created buzz around JC. Timbaland was supposed to work with him too, but "Gone" changed everything.

She hitting all kinda notes in that clip. The low notes, the high falsetto notes, and then those powerful belts at the end.

And she was only 17.

Beyonce wasnt a world class top singer when she was 17 neither. She practiced and improved.

Aaliyah could have done the same

I always look it like this, when people say an artist can't sing, ask them why. Most times, it'll come down to something subjective like "I just don't think her voice is that great" which really has nothing to do with whether an artist can sing or not. An artist that can't sing is an artist that sings out of tune and struggles carrying a note. That doesn't describe Aaliyah.

Who was a bigger solo artist in 1999?

Chili or Brandy?
I get your point but the lead singer for TLC was still Boz even though Chilli sung lead on Scrubs.. Neither of em could compete with Brandy for popularity.. The front man of TLC was Left Eye

Yes beyonces name was bigger.

She was the lead singer of group that just sold 8 million records and had 3 billboard #1 hits. And won 2 Grammys lol.

Of course her name was bigger :mjlol:
So was that video up there a lie?

Beyonce's time came when it came, there is nothing wrong with that and she blew up like Aaliyah never did.. Nikkas wanna make her competing with Sade and Josephine Baker and shyt.

Another wild thing people forget is that at first Beyonce's biggest fans were the gay dudes. I know people clown now and say only women and gay men like her or that is what the Hive is made up of, but i remember distinctly back then it was more pronounced with gay dudes.

Early in her solo career even around 2006/2007 she was still hated by alot of Black women and they wanted her out. Even Tariq Nasheed spoke on the hate she got during those days :dead: Nowadays she gets hate as everyone else but she gets more love from black women now. Same thing happened with Rihanna. For some reason black women hate at the beginning then start showing love

Beyonce got loved by Black women after Sasha Fierce/Single Ladies and supporting the Obamas

Ciara and Ashanti are the unlucky ones because they fell apart before they could get the same love. It took Ciara leaving Future's bum ass for them to like her but musically she didn't get to that period

This is the Tariq video

Already know, one gay dude I knew stayed singin Halo in the group when that came out :francis:
