here's why taking a big is valuable:
when y'all go small ball, y'all wanna use Green at C? Fine. Not like y'all haven't done it. Moving up a Curry or Klay up a position? OK, whatever. That's small ball. There isn't a chance in hell that Golden State can get away with Wiggins at the 4 in small ball.

i dont know if i would have klay guard the wing full-on after this ACL injury.
I think we are taking too much cap on the starting 5. We need to use some money and get a nice bench to work with. Our big 3 are in their 30s, and if we have a weak bench, we are just gonna burn them some more

Clear Wiggins with a one year Randle rental as a small ball 5. He goes from primary on a trash team to a 3rd option/safety valve on offense that has to fall in line with the championship pedigree.
Replace Wiggins with at bare minimum another shooter in Knox on a rookie scale contract, he'll probably get his shot together in GS as most Knick youth get better once they leave.
Frank off the bench and off ball with Steph or on ball as a defensive tandem with Klay, focusing only on defense and less pressure likely looks better. Can cover up Steph on defense as needed.
#8 pick still nets a team like GS that doesn't even NEED the boost a talented young prospect, although not the big in Wiseman, obviously
Any future picks latched on along with the salary savings, put them in a better position for Giannis, or for more lottery picks while they're getting back to form.
1:1 it's not ideal, but given the team in question, there are some long term benefits
