Breh....

This is 100% correct

He admitted that Tip wrote a lot of the rhymes he spit on the first album because he wasn't taking it seriously at that time

But when they were recording the 2nd album, he decided to step his shyt up

and step it up he did

IMO, he was the star of the Low End Theory

:mjcry:

Phife was never the star, but he did become pippen to qtips Jordan.

Nah, Tribe got a track record of that...Most people thought Phife (RIP bless the dead) was asscheeks after the 1st Tribe album.

Remember when Low End Theory dropped and Phife stepped it up something serious... We went from "That sound alright" to "I ain't gonna front, that's kinda tight" to "Phife nice with it." But nah, that's just Tribe in the studio doing what they do.
Up till today, I never heard dude spit, so assumed he had to be terrible.

I can see some of the less than:gladbron: reacrion to this. I personally wish this could be more sample based, because that's what I like, and I think it would sound more classic Tribe. This albim is a great update to Tribe's sound. Even taking out the nostalgia and Phife's passing, this is still a great listen. Q-tip is a musical genius. Straight like that. Shocked how good Jarobi is. And Busta sounded like a new man. This is the real "what the game is missing". Care for the art. Collaboration. Heart. I'm fukking with this one heavy, despite this style of production not being what I'm usually drawn to. I need to check out tye new Common, but I might say AOTY after it's all said and done. This feels like a real Hip-Hop album is supposed to.

To be honest, unless you got a Kanye budget, you can't have all these samples like tribe used to. Think about it. On midnight marauders, there was like for our five samples on each song. That shyt would never get cleared in 2016 unless your budget is endless. Same reason de la soul had to change their sound on the last album.

Easily better than Beats and Love Movement to me first listen. :yeshrug:
nah no way is it better than BR&L. I loved that album. shyt is 4.5 mics to me.

But this album is great. after letting it sink in more it just doesn't have the same feeling cause phife's present isn't heavily felt. I was hoping we'd get more tip and phife back and forths. but I know he passed while they were making it so they just had to work with that they had. production is great but I still prefer the more straight forward sample based tribe sound over this instrumentation type stuff. this feels more like a tribe and friends album than a straight up tribe album. but i'm still enjoying it and happy they blessed us with another project. should have happened way sooner though.
