WHAT EXACTLY WOULD YOU PREFER TO CUT, BROTHER?

Military Industrial Complex.

but if this happens it will be the fall of our Republic.

in Rome, Generals had their own armies but could never march on Rome.
in America, the Military Industrial Complex control the Generals by default.

in Rome, the Generals marched on Rome when the Government could no longer govern.

In America....

put it together for yourself.

Well, "rich" is subjective. By rich do you mean Bill Gates rich or pulling 100K a year 'rich' ?

Easiest way to become rich in a capitalistic society is to supply a demand. Become a very good doctor, or lawyer, mechanic, plumber, electrician, etc. AS long as your trade or skills are top notch, the demand will always come to you naturally. In a free market, consumers choose, and if your trade or skills are top notch, consumers will choose you.

:aicmon:

Of course we are talking about the top 1 to 5 % of wealthy people.

How do they become rich?

Cause I think it's not the solution. Government needs to spend less, not tax more.

Spend less on what?

Government spending is the key to this economy

I blame him for not even pushing towards what the OP was talking about. The point is to push for something, make your point, and wait till the next election or even before that when the tides turning, and then get the legislation. It's called the bully pulpit. Obama hasn't done anything but cut promos ALBIET being fair out of all of the major Democrats he is the least culpable.

i agree 100%.

Obama, in his second term needs to really push for some serious social and economic reform if he is going to be remembered for anything other than drone attacks and being the first black president.

The problem with this bully pulpit argument is that we literally just witnessed Obama use it all throughout the sequestration talks only for his approval rating to go down. I'm sorry, but what you and Broke are saying is not advanced political strategy. It's wishful thinking. His Jobs Bill is sitting right there and the House won't budge. He campaigned and stumped for it throughout the US, nothing happened.

It's like people complain that all Obama does is talk and then your solution is that he should talk more. People have short memories. Until we get a progressive Congress and Senate, nothing in this country will change. We may very well be 20 years away. I think we need to have a discussion about whether the Democratic Party should truly transform into a progressive party and sacrifice some elections while working towards selling that message. It may be the only way. Gradually building towards it.

I've had a theory for a while that if the republican party does split and fracture, the same will eventually happen to the dems. It'll be interesting to see, because the rethugs are a mess and once the pre baby boomer gen hits the :rip: they're going to be :flabbynsick:
