I feel so much better about the Poole pick now. I see what they saw :whoo:

Glad you're (we're) coming around on him. The thing I'm liking most so far is his willingness to shoot. He's not afraid to take a shot and I think we've (far too) often had bench/rookie players that have been hesitant. Doesn't look like that's going to be a problem for him.

28. Golden State Warriors: Jordan Poole, G, Michigan

The Warriors learned the right lesson from picking Jacob Evans last season. Evans was seen as having a high floor after three seasons at Cincinnati, but he also had a low ceiling and little margin for error at the next level. Poole is the exact opposite. He is one of the most intriguing selections at the end of the first round. He made a somewhat surprising decision to stay in the draft after two seasons at Michigan, where he was more of a secondary option on offense. But Poole has more talent than he got to show in college. He’s a great 3-point shooter who can also put the ball on the floor and make plays on the move. The big question for him is his defense, but his well-rounded offensive game should allow him to quickly jump Evans in the pecking order in Golden State. The injury-ravaged Warriors will need a lot from Poole next season. He could be up for it.

Nice. Like I posted before (a thought I saw somewhere else that made sense to me): If the Paschall and Poole picks were reversed (Paschall taken at 28, Poole at 41), people would likely have been good with taking Poole. But since no one really had Poole on our radar (especially at 28 with some of the other players still on the board), it seemed like a real reach.

That said, I'm really liking what I see from the kid, standouts for me from him so far are:
- Willingness/ability to shoot.
- Ability/willingness to put the ball on the floor and drive.
- Great attitude, fitting in with the other players well.
- Court vision, seems like he sees the floor really well.
- On court awareness, There were a few plays I've seen clips of where he's just in the right spot at the right time.

Obviously he's a 20yo rookie who was taken in the later portion of the draft so we have to temper any expectations, but I really like what I've seen so far. Can't wait for Steph and the Bully to get to him and help train/teach the young gunner....

Agreed, and the surprise for me is his effort on defense. He gets after it on the defensive end which was a question mark from the scouting reports I initially read. That's going to be major if he keeps that same energy on both sides of the ball.
