I fukked up a lot my freshman year not grade wise just dumb ass weed offenses and MIP which is minor in posession or consumption of Alcohol. This was all like 4 years ago and now finishing up. I always stay employed with a shytty job(multiples ones sometime) and also work at the University Center as a library assistant and computer lab assistant. I just want some bretherens advice/ input or whatever.
Well, it's not a problem. However, you probably will have problems if the job is in law enforcement, law, security, government, bank, medical, anything where an official background check is done.
So, there's a lot of jobs where your criminal background is not checked. Retail sales, Business-to-business sales, manufacturing (non-military contractor), services (restaurant), IT, etc. Don't sweat it.

Try to see if you can get your records sealed or expunged. It'd cost you some bread, but it's your best course of action IMO

That's not possible in most states.

You'll be fine op.

Calm down. Nothing personal. It's just funny to some of us that everyone on the coli is supposedly making $90/hour (or whatever they will tell you) in IT. Many of these "stories" have been exposed.

Maybe you do know some felons who are caking in IT. :yeshrug:

I agree. that sounds mad :duck:

Ironically, my degree was in business information systems, and after working in that field for like 10 years, I did a career change into health care informatics, and that pays waaaaayyyyyy more than I was making in IT. a lot of these IT jobs I see you dont' even need a degree for. and a lot of them don't pay that much.

my wife tried to get me on at her school district in their IT dept, and I was like :whoa: cuz they paid so low. (I mean I had a job at the time)

and I had a contact who put me on with another health care organization that needed an IT manager, and I interviewed (this was like a month ago) and even they were paying less for a managerial spot than I make as a regular professional working doing what I do now.

unless ur like a network engineer, project manager, or some kinda director, u ain't gonna be seeing the big dough doing just "IT work".

Co-sign on what everyone else said about getting them off your record if possible.

I hope you're not going into healthcare because my employer will not hire someone with a conviction. Why hire someone with convictions when you have hundreds if not thousands of applicants just for one position?

This is the correct answer.

I had a friend who had to wait almost a decade to get confirmed as a lawyer because of a couple of DUI's and this was no dummy, he went to Rutgers Law, got published his first year and had a 3.7 GPA and passed the bar.

I would check the 'no' box. If you're applying for a real job they're only gonna check if they're looking for a reason NOT to hire you. If they like you, they're not even gonna wanna know. Especially if it's not an F.

I got a homie who doesn't even have the degree his resume says he has but because they liked him, they didn't even bother to check. Dude was with the company like 5 years before he moved on to greener pastures.
