Purely anecdotal and on social media, but I see comments from people choosing not to marry or have children bc:
They have a lot of student loan debt.
High debt in general and living paycheck to paycheck.
Can’t afford a house.
Worried about what kind of future their potential kids will inherent (to them it doesn’t look too good: climate change and all that).
Childless people hear their friends struggle with high day-care costs and sometimes I read tweets where people think America doesn’t seem stable enough to have a family.

Probably not the answer but may be contributing factors. Im curious to see what this country looks like in the next 10 years and how all these numbers will change.
