This thread is very divisive knuckles red. A lot of our civil rights heroes are people you wouldn't consider black.
They existed in a period of time where claiming mulattos as black was advantageous. But then integration happened, and its the system that we all now operate under that is divisive NOT me pointing out the ways in which said system is divisive. Your comment is like when white people say, "people who talk about racism are the actual racists." We live in a time where being mulatto holds a different set of rules than being black. I don't see whats wrong with me trying to start a dialog about that.

yall nikkas are dumb. it's all the same to white people.
People keep saying that. Look up a few comments, and it has been said in this thread already!!!! So people....BLACK PEOPLE really think that mulattos navigate through this world with the same issues as black people?!?!!?! I don't see a bunch of mulattos getting shot and killed for wearing hoodies. White supremacy is real!!!!! Colorism is real!!!!! The lighter you are, and the closer you are to white the more you benefit!!!!!

I guess Malcolm X isn't black by the coli definition either his mother was "biracial" and she had served in the UNIA.

Race and color are different. If you're mulatto you have a direct link to white supremacy via your white parent. So you don't see how that would give a person an advantage over an actual black person? Especially if that white parent was the father? Explain to me EXACTLY how I'm being divisive by pointing out a reality!!!

Sudan/New Zealand.
I've seen several posts where people try to pretend that biracial people blend in with black people when in reality its pretty easy to pick out a mulatto 9 times out of 10. Even Obama you can look at tell theres something else there.

:usure: I mean...c'mon....

Let me interject as a person who parents is from Africa. It depends in what you classify as a mulatto. I consider a mulatto or mix origin human, to be a person who parents are what we call different races today. European or Aboriginal or a Mix poly or Kiwi parent etc. Having said that i know people from my country that looks like all the individuals i posted, but necessarily coming from recent different races. So it all depends every region and groups in Africa has a different history. But if they have parents of different origin then they are what call mixed race today.

J. Cole had a white mother, you couldn't possibly mistake him for a fully white male, yet none of you mention him. He's still allowed to say nikka on the radio, but my point is he lived with his mother in the trailer park. There is no advantage there whatsoever. Unless you think having an upbringing in a trailer park is much better than the projects.

Yes, context is important. I live in America where race is still very much an issue, as is this debate about claiming mulattos. A mulatto is a person with one black parent and one white parent. Thats what it has always meant in this country. I do not consider mulattos as black because I see how detrimental it is to our community. I'm just trying to get the opinions from other black people as to what actual advantages we blacks get in 2015 from claiming mulattos. All it causes, IMO, is confusion and separation.

I don't see how it's detrimental to our community. Your inferiority complex is a detriment.

The fukk are you talking about?!?!!? I was talking about white privilege, and the ability to blend in--thats what white privilege is. And yes, white people who live in trailer parks still have an advantage over even the richest blacks in this country. White privilege has nothing to do with finances, its about an experience that can ONLY be had by those with white skin!!!! And the closer you are to said white skin the more you will benefit. You know not of what you speak!!!
