that would be interesting though if something new was created though.

it's hard now (pause) because there's so much competition and niches already filled. if some new form of life was to arise in a pool of goop somewhere, it would probably be eaten right away by an already existing form of life

:ohhh: good point. What about before life got as complex as it is, do you think it's possible for life to have been started more than once on earth.

Also why do you say there aren't any conditions on earth similar to those when life first took hold? All the same chemicals/elements are here, surley somewhere on earth a ratio is similar to that of the early earth can be found. No?

sure it's possible, but I'm not sure how we could know it happened. as it is, the dna evidence points to all known life coming from one source

because life has changed earth. for example, the abundance of oxygen comes from plant life

I guess it's possible the conditions could be recreated in the lab, but then you run into the issue of the time scales involved

But there are some places on earth that have low oxygen levels, or high whatever else levels that could mimic conditions on early earth.

Some people mentioned thermal vents as a breeding place for life. The conditions around those vents are similar to that of early earth.

thermal vents is a hypothesis some people like. one problem with it is how unstable organic molecules are at the temperatures involved

Abiogenesis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yup. And I'd wager that most people haven't, but it's a key step in our origins in addition to evolution. I don't think we know as much about it as we know about evolution, but, IMO, it's the best explanation for life on Earth.

You'd have to explain how/why ribosomes came into being in order to create proteins first. Couple things to consider.....

Endosymbiotic theory - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
RNA world hypothesis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There's more floating around (triplicase/proto-ribosome theory), but it's all speculation. Possible, but not factual or scientifically verified and I don't know if it can be.

THE PROBLEM WITH BEING A BRAND NEW MICRO-ORGANISM TODAY IS THAT YOU ARE JUST FOOD FOR ANYTHING BIGGER THAN YOU, BROTHER! NEW LIFE FORMS COULD BE HERE, BUT THEY WON'T HAVE TIME TO PROSPER BEFORE BEING CONSUMED BY ALREADY ESTABLISHED SPECIES, DUDE!

Is this just a theory, or have you seen a study on the subject?

Is life still being created?

First off :whoa: no trolling serious questions here.

If life was created once on earth, what's to stop it from being created again? Are there any observations of new life taking hold on earth as opposed to life derived from evolution? Could there be an entire non related evolutionary history being created alongside us?

"New Life" is not created now. Instead, "New Life" evolves from a pre-existing Life (organism). So, there is no life being 'created' alongside us, but there are new versions of existing life evolving along side us. How life began in the first place is of great debate. One theory is that basic macromolecules came together to form a proto-cell in the oceans of ancient earth about 4 billion years ago (primoridial soup). These proto-cells evolved into more complicated unicellular organisms and then complicated multicellular organisms and then add another 3 billion years of evolution and you have the diversity you see today.

What about Lilith?

you forget about her?

Came waaaaaaaaaay after A & E, see Isaiah 34:14. Babylonian Talmud and the Alphabet of Ben Sira 'flesh out' what 'lilith' is/was, but they refer to 'it' as some type of animal, the incarnation of 'night', or, a demon responsible for 'wet dreams'........:deadrose:
