You forget that the majority of Drake fans are female. He captures that audience like no other male rapper has, That's why he was on top so long. Should've stuck to making IG caption songs for them.
And we all know Drake is a "pop star" as opposed to a "rapper"
Women are human too. It’s still boils down to the appeal, the cool factor, etc. That’s what rappers mainly export. For most people, even if you fukked with Drake’s music in 2023–there’s no reason to go to a Drake concert in 2025 or something. You can’t get any cultural/social capital going to a Drake concert in 2025. You can’t post that on your Insta as a woman and have other women like, “OMG! I’m so jealous!” in the comments. I’m talking about basic sociology. Drake is not fashionable anymore on that level.
In the 50+ year history of rap, no rapper has ever been made a “lame” by another rapper and then somehow returned to being perceived as cool. It’s never happened. Not once. It’s even more dire for Drake because while other rappers have been framed as sell-outs, inauthentic, etc., he stands alone as the rapper categorized as someone with colonial sentiments towards black people. Like, how are you supposed to perform Rich Flex in concert after this dude has convinced a significant portion of the world that all you do is extract and insert poisonous elements into the culture?
It’s over for Drake. It’s been over. Drake will always have his super diehard fans, but the days of him being the “guy” are over.
Drake is highly aware of this too, hence the lawsuits and him going on streams with white supremacists, such as Adin Ross.
He had a good run, though.
