Bruh, trump got more Black votes in 2020 than in 2016.

His numbers among Black men jumped by 6 percentage points. That number will be higher in 2024.

Most importantly is that just like after the Great Recession, the post covid economic picture will be shown to have disproportionately fukkd over the Black community. I bet Biden loses support even among many younger Black voters who thought he’d do more on the student loan front.

At the end of the day the gop doesn’t need to win over a majority of the community. Any increase is icing on the cake for them.
every relection-term republican improves with minorities going back to Nixon. IDK why people are so amped by this. Its the incumbency vote advantage.

Right on cue

Some Democrats sure know how to reframe a positive into a negative & then wonder why turnout is low. It's like a person in a homeless shelter complaining that they only received enough free food to eat for a week.

Yes. Canceling 'only' $10,000 in Student Loan Debt would be more impactful had it went further.
Yes. The climate bill would've been better had it went further.

That doesn't mean that both aren't historical. (Yes, part of the issue is the initial expectations prior to Manchin & Synema through a wrench in everything.)

I think it is framing like that NAACP article that reinforce the idea that Dems are the same as Republicans (even though Republicans don't want to cancel any of the debt). It leads to disillusionment and indifference and has been taking place w/ every single national progressive policy that has been passed. Not to mention the fact that Pell Grant recipients receive $20,000 instead of $10,000 (which covers 57% of African American college attendees)

Back to the topic at hand. I agree w/ you. Tim Scott running as a token is going to put a dent in the AfAm vote. The fact that a CTE-addled idiot is neck and neck with Warnock or that Willie Wilson always gets the majority of the black vote in Chicago despite being a yuck-mouthed idiot who is on record as voting for Trump is a sign that there are a lot of black people that just see skin color as a reason to vote for someone. Also, AfAm's are disproportionately experiencing crime and more likely to overcorrect to conservative ways a la the 1980s w/ Reagan/Bush.

Hoping Cheney runs as an independent to balance things out. 🤞🏾

the black cat is my crown...
He'd be a fool

Black folks ain't supporting fukkin Tim Scott :mjlol:
don't laugh... oh no, don't you dare laugh.... you are absolutely right, scott will not come anywhere close to carrying the black vote -- in any state... however, he doesn't need to... this is how trump won the first time.... he campaigned in detroit, one of the blackest cities in the country... he didn't win detroit, not even close... but he closed the margins enough that he won michigan -- and that's all he needed to do... picking scott will just get him enough black votes or black voters who stay home to just eek out a victory... we need to take this seriously...

picking scott as a running mate gives trump these advantages
  • eases the guilt of white racists -- they can claim they can't be racist, they're supporting scott for vp
  • expands black voter apathy -- if scott is a c00n, what is kamala...? she locked up black people for not going to school... derp!
  • actually garners black voter support -- not every black person is a democratic voter and this is red meat to a black republican...

It's a new world out here. These kinds of historica parallels no longer hold any meaning. Political coalitions are shifting permanently.
Granted Obama gave minority voters reasons to shift their expectations and thus seek options elsewhere, the immediate racist reaction of his mere existence can’t be underestimated. Black voters have nowhere to go. This is why the shift is happening way faster with Hispanics who appear identity as white in many cases.

Yeah I see your point re: framing. The Dems have always been bad at politics - from framing to explaining.

What causes people to lapse into the "both sides" shyt is that you never see Dems really let their nuts hang and unapologetically exercise raw political power to benefit their supporters/constituents. Of course this is better than the status quo and will help MANY MANY MANY people. But politics is also about sending signals. The GOP never fails to fully exercise their power. And because of that, their base never goes away.
