yep, it would be incredibly expensive to get an illegal gun and ammo

it's like that Chris Rock joke about making the bullets $1000 each

I had a friend that went to Japan, and tried to find weed. it's also highly illegal in Japan. he finally found some but it was garbage and super expensive (I don't remember the numbers). also if he somehow got caught with it, he'd be fuct. he decided it wasn't worth it
lets not forget Japanese culture is much different than ours. They're a very submissive government is always right type people and their society EXTREMELY shuns disobeying authority (whether it be police, parents etc)

That country has a lot of problems in of itself. Also, its probably extremely hard for a foreigner to go to japan and find some chronic but I bet its relatively easy if you've lived there your entire life, if its anything we've learned from prohibition its that making a substance illegal doesn't decrease the consumption or access to it. Also as a foreigner getting in trouble in a foreign country is much more intimidating and scary and thus even approaching people to buy weed would be scary as hell.

You raise valid points, and I'm not on either side of this issue (I'm not sure exactly what the best course of action should be) you think the Colorado gunman couldn't afford to get a more expensive gun? He had tear gas and kevlar and automatic weapons and booby trapped his entire house.. you think he couldn't afford a more expensive black market weapon?

I could see it cutting down on everyday street violence which is a large cause of death in this country, though...I do think America's attitude and acceptance towards lethal weapons creates a mindstate that may be the reason for why we have so much violence.

But also I would want a gun that I kept at home for home defense.

That reminds me of the Chris Rock joke talking about how they should make bullets REALLY expensive so you'd have a really good reason to shoot that person.

The Colorado gunman bought his weapons and thousands of bullets legaly and he already had documented mental health issues. There has to be some law put in place to at least confirm the persons mental health, maybe even give a mental health screening before gun purchases. And also I can't see a reason ANYBODY would need to order thousands of bullets. That alone should have raised a red flag with somebody.

You're right. We can do a much better job than we have been doing. Definitely needs stricter regulation, but will stricter regulations really be strict enough for the blackmarket prices to become absurd? I mean, think about the things we could reasonably pass, it would probably be a few minor better regulations, no major change seems to be possible in America, just minute "moderate" change that democrats and republicans had to settle for.

Yea a mental health screening at a gun store :beli:

Heres this demon going in the gun store.

1. do you hear voices - no
2. Are you suffering from any mental illnesses - no
3. Have you taken any phychiatric medication in the last 5 years - no
4. Do you have thoughts of harming other human beings - no

( you passed )

They would have to make mental health records public to the government and align them with an agency that cross checks them with gun purchases. Its a good idea though. WOuld give some people some jobs.

oh he wasn't there on vacation, and just trying to get it from random cats in the skreets. he was flown out there by some jap hipsters that knew where to get it

we can talk all day about what kind of society they have, but the fact is that the penalties for having weed there are pretty harsh

I didnt mean at the gun store. They could make it so you had to go to the doctor and get a screening and pass for the gun liscence. At least there should be something put in place that would prevent people who already have a confirmed mental illness from buying a gun.

They need to make certain medical conditions public to the government and make sure people with xyz conditions are not able to own guns but then you know whats gonna happen. Mr. Rogers is gonna unload on a schoolbus and they're gonna think no one can be trusted.

This is why we can never get anything done in this country. Even things that we all know would be better for the country, somehow washington can't get it done. We have one of the highest unemployment and murder rates for any of the so called super powers. Yet Washington can't get ANYTHING done. They'd rather bicker back and forth and pander to the crazies for votes, than actualy fix the country. How are we sitting in the middle of the worst recession in a long time, yet we are fighting over gay marriage and abortion. This country is run by a bunch of idiots.

If the public is at risk because of your sobriety, please smoke your life away.
It would be impossible for me to smoke my life away, there is no known LD-50 for Cannabis in humans. There are estimates that you'd need to smoke 40,000 joints at once.

The US is fukked up on fundamental levels, all I can do is sit back and try to enjoy myself.

I think the reason so many people commit that in japan is because the country is so much about order the pressure to live up to certain expectations is too much to bare.
