Cleveland simply didnt allow them to get rhythm shots and intentionally overworked Curry.
Its crazy that people dont realise that Curry doesnt actually score 100% or even 50% of his 3pt shot attempts when they make arguments about missed shots. What makes it worse is that when the other team forces you to be too active on every play, your legs eventually give in and that lift you require for long range shots simply disappears with fatigue and work rate. Watch 60% of Cleveland's sets when Curry is on the floor- Curry's man eventually sets up the screen and forces Curry to be the main defender. From there, he has to move around side to side against Lebron or Kyrie in a hopeless attempt to defend and that unfortunately puts a very big toll on him and affects his efficiency going the other way. The guy doesnt have the stamina to play heavy minutes and it showed. Klay on the other hand has never had success against Cleveland, with or without Kyrie.
No, this was about the Cavs controlling the glass, controlling the pace, and making the game possession basketball. The Cavs employed the same strategy on Curry that they did last year and from Game 3 on the Warriors could not stop the Cavs offense.
How can the Thunder play the Warriors tougher when they lost The Cavs held the Warriors to 99.9ppg, the Warriors shot a lower percentage vs the Cavs than they did the Thunder, how did the Thunder play them tougher They had a lower offensive rating vs the Cavs as well.....
hopefully people stop crying bout the eastern conference now
Curry got knocked around in the OKC series too. He simply missed all the open looks he got in the Finals. This wasn't about Curry getting worn down; he just choked. Look at the shots Klay was hitting in the previous three series compared to this one. The looks were the same, he just missed.
It's a make or miss league and Golden State kept missing. Barnes went into a shell after game 4 and along with Ezeli/Varejao just squeezed the court for Golden State. Kerr fukked up not giving more minutes to Barbosa.
Eastern conference is still trash though. I'm a heat fan but even I know Cavs are guaranteed to go to the finals again next year unless Bosh comes back super healthy and we keep Whiteside then we might have a chance. Still though. In the West you just never know. That's one thing I hate about the East.
I just posted an article showing you Curry was missing wide open shots. He got good looks and missed them. All season long he made incredibly difficult shots (along with Klay). They just stopped falling in this series. Kyrie was Steph this series. It's somewhat remarkable the series went seven games considering Steph/Klay only had one great game each.Breh, this Cavs team would have beaten the Thunder in a series, you can't say they played the Warriors tougher when damn near every stat says the Cavs were the Warriors toughest opponent. The Cavs had a higher offensive rating and shot higher from the field than the Warriors, the Thunder shot like shyt against them, from game 3 the Cavs offense basically turned them into one of their hopeless EC opponents, the Cavs had a +111 offensive rating in 3 of the last 4 games and in two of them they hit 120+, the Warriors could not stop them.
The looks were not the same, a lot of the shots by Klay and Steph were contested, the only people getting open looks were Dray and Barnes. The Cavs turned Steph into a one on one player, look at his assists, they defended everyone else and made him become just a scorer.
I'ma walk out on a limb and say GSW, OKC, or SA aka the last 6 years.
Healthy Clippers too though. Curry and GSW it was their first final last year. I give you the Spurs but they lost this year before even making the conference finals. You think that can happen to the Cavs? And OKC hasn't been to the finals since 2012.
