This man tweeted this last year and then jumped on tv this past week and said the Lakers dont have a chance to get him and won’t even get a meeting :mjlol:

Meanwhile his daddy Ballmer is in a panic putting up shameless billboards taking pages out of the cokehead era Lakers handbook. Doubt Kawhi and Uncle Dennis feelin all this desperation shyt.

I think Kawhi probably stays in Toronto, but if he leaves Toronto it doesn't make any sense for him to choose the Clips over the Lakers

He clearly wants to load manage his way through the regular season, and turn up in the playoffs. Being on the Clips won't allow him to do that, unless they get another star

T-Minus one week until free agency :lupe:

Almost one year since his trade demand to GOAT franchise. It’s gotta be all hands on deck for this one. We’ve got a real chance, we just gotta come correct.

If we get kawhi at the full 32milly won’t be room for dlo and blo unless they take vet min paycuts :mjcry:

That’s what I was hoping for. They’d get rings and endorsement deals for their sacrifice. Basketball wise tho, that team would be deadly. :mjcry:

Kinda worried about AD and Kawhi having to carry the defensive load tho. :ld:

As we know Laker Nation, the media has been spinning the narrative that if Kawhi Leonard leaves Toronto for LA, he'll join the Clippers. I'm very optimistic that he'll join the Lakers for a few reasons. First, let's look at some of his recent quotes.

"I just want to win." - As simple as that. Kawhi seems to care first and foremost about winning. We could give him the best chance to do that.

"I don't care about being the best player." - Interesting quote, as most star players do care about being the best. This would lead me to believe that Kawhi would not mind sharing the court with other great players (LeBron and AD).

"I want to be the best team. I always said that." - What team would be better than LeBron, AD, Kuzma, Kawhi, and a bunch of 3-and-D guys?

"I don't play hero basketball. I'm not playing for fans. I'm just playing to win. I'm not out here tryna break records." - This also makes me believe that Kawhi wouldn't mind playing with players like LeBron and AD... players who would take pressure off of him and make him even better. Him mentioning that he's not playing for fans means that the Raptors fans likely won't play into his decision.

Now that we got a few quotes out of the way, here are a few notes about the "fun guy" himself:

- Kawhi has said that he is a team player, which is an indication that he is would be willing to sacrifice to win championships.

- “[Leonard] is so willing to do whatever it takes,’’ one NBA assistant coach told The Post. “He just cares about winning. His preference is to keep the ball in some of those situations, but he’s not stubborn.”

- He reached out to LeBron about teaming up. This obviously means that at some point, Kawhi welcomed the idea of playing with LeBron in LA.

- It was reported last summer that Kawhi began reaching out to other star free agents about teaming up. This means that he is not opposed to playing with another player of his caliber, which could also correlate with forming a super team.

- Woj reported last summer that Kawhi wanted to be traded to LA, "preferably" the Lakers. This is important because Leonard and his camp almost certainly knew about our cap situation last year, and that we were planning to have LeBron AND Paul George sign last summer, meaning Kawhi is not opposed to forming a super team after all!

- After LeBron signed with the Lakers, Woj doubled down on the fact that Leonard wanted to still be a Laker. Enough said. Kawhi obviously could have changed his mind, but he seems like someone who doesn't waver on what he wants.

So, what can the Lakers offer him? Here is a rough outline of a potential pitch to Leonard.

- Best chance to win a championship. With three of the five best players in basketball (including Leonard), and a wide open west, the door is open to begin a new dynasty!

- Playing with LeBron and AD will allow Kawhi to take more "load management" games off and he won't have to worry about either of those guys stepping up in big moments.

- Building his brand. Being a Laker catapults a star's brand like no other team can... just ask Anthony Davis!

- Legacy. Potentially leading three different teams to championships. Helping deliver our 17th, and 18th championships to surpass Boston.

- Family. Kawhi is from LA. He can be close to home and make his family full of Lakers fans happy!

- The Lakers take care of their stars. Ask Kobe Bryant. Whether Leonard gets injured or decides to sign a short term deal, we will offer him the max.

- Loyalty. The Clippers screwed over Blake Griffin. Hell, Masai Ujiri told DeMar DeRozan he wouldn't be traded and next thing you know...

- He will make more money off the court in endorsements, making up for what he would lose out on by re-signing with Toronto.

There are plenty of more things the Lakers can do to make their pitch to Kawhi, but I have a feeling Kawhi knows what he is going to do this summer, and he probably has known for a long time. If we stay positive... if we think positive, it may be safe to say that... "Kawhi's on the way!"
