I'm not understanding the role players over a max guy argument when there will be several buyout vets available if last season is any indication.
Yeah they may start off the season with 3 max guys and little else. But I'm willing to risk starting off the season with little depth and signing some seasoned vets later on in the season than I am missing out on a max guy altogether.
Markieff Morris, Kanter, Wes Matthews, Lin, Austin Rivers, Faried, Ellington - All buyouts from last year that could be in a contender's rotation.
Get the max guy and the vets will come sooner or later.
Depends on the max guy (Kawhi yes, Kyrie yes, what if its Jimmy? Kemba? Middleton? DLo?) Then the rest of the rotation is cheeks. If the Lakers are willing to go into the luxury tax then I say go ahead and get the 3rd max guy and still sign those vets. Otherwise there's enough top end talent there. Gotta get guys that don't mind just being a great defender and rebounding machine. Get guys that mainly practice that assisted 3 ball. AD, Bron, Kuzma and a couple mid level (8-10m) guys will absolutely feast.
All I heard was "Bron, Ingram, Kuz, Zo were 2 games from the 1 seed at Christmas". One of the teams that was ahead of them on Christmas is now decimated with injuries. So by that rationale Bron, AD, Morris, Bullock, Beverly, with Seth, Rivers, Faried, McGee and Kuz off the bench could win home court
