I’m pissed we traded Russell even more now

Damn near everything I was saying coming true. What pisses me off the most about the Russell trade was they never turned the team over to him and made him pick his spots and traded him at his lowest value just to dump a pick without having anybody ready to sign.

Russell showed late last year he was better playing at the 2 and focusing on scoring. You acting like Lakers couldn't still dump those salaries next offseason if it came to that. Why not wait until next offseason when Deng and Mozgov only have two years left and would be much easier to unload.

We all understand why the deal was done, we all disagree with doing it right now. Also this can hinder the development of Zubac as well. Only way this trade is good for the Lakers is if getting that extra first is what's needed to acquire PG now. Otherwise they should've waited until all star break or next offseason.

My biggest problem is this equal opportunity offense kind of limits the ability to see exactly what we have with some of the young players. I think Russell is a high usage player. He needs the ball in his hand to get his scoring going which will force the defense to bend which will open up his playmaking. I don't see him as a traditional PG that can run an offense and knows how to attack or when/where to get others going. Right now their style of play is not beneficial to his game at all.

Lakers need to take a year and see what they got with their core now. I know it's a frustrating process and Lakers fans are too accustomed to the immediate bounce back. But you don't sell out the future for Westbrook and leave everything else bare. Then you're a treadmill team once again laying all your eggs in the free agency basket.

They have a potentially great young core. Players on rookie contracts are the best bargain in the NBA. Give Ingram and Russell a year or two to grow into stars and then use that window you have of them still on rookie contracts to then try and load up on a big free agent splash around them. If Russell and Ingram can turn into what I think they can then it'll give free agents a reason to be here as they'll have more depth around them.

While I didn't like the trade regardless, the thing that pissed me off the most about it is why make the trade at that moment unless a deal was in place for that extra first round draft pick. I'm sure that exact trade would've been there at any time. Or wait until all star break or next year to move those contracts if that's the cost. Even if Russel was immature or a locker room problem dude is 21, a lot of 21 years olds are immature. Still give him a try at the 2 next to Ball and see how the team looks and let Russell raise his value then make a move. I just hate the timing of it all. Especially if they'r enow saying they won't be a free agent player this summer.

I actually wouldn’t mind Boogie. I think he will be a good player until he’s like 33-34 cause he so skilled and never really relied on athleticism, plus...we have no legit center and all the good ones will be locked up for the foreseeable future

Plus they should’ve just found a new source of leadership after he pulled that stunt and just eat off his production. I can believe it if it’s true cuz he did some fukk shyt but it feels more and more like we traded him over Nick Young, Iggy Azalea, and Byron Scott. And even if you really wanted to trade him, at least don’t trade him when his value is at its lowest.
