There's always one guy like this at almost every barbershop.
Thats why the first thing black men do when we move to a new spot, is ask other brehs where they cut their haircut at and who does it.
Its number 3 on the priority list after shelter and transportation :manny:

Brehs know what is

Barbers don't go to school to learn, they go to get legal...
If you don't already know how to cut hair, you shouldn't be playin with your life like that

Yeah, I believe when you become a master barber you learn the technical know how and patterns.
In regular barber school you just learn the health code aspect.
Or that is what I was lead to believe and I also heard in regular barber school.
Most pick up tips or their craft by being a fly on the wall.
or if they have a gracious instructor who cares about quality and grain of cut.
It was one of the reasons I did not go to barber school cause in regular barber school supposedly.
it is just a health curriculum by trade class and not an actual craftmanship trade class.

These barbers are out of their minds now though. I rock the fro, but still like a nice line up. Mostly do it myself but sometimes I'll let a pro do it. Went to a random barbershop and said I wanted a line up and taper the back up. This man looked me in the eye and said "that's a cut big fella, $20"

:dahell: I remember when a line up with a taper in the back was $5

Could have happened before the recession .
During and after the recession the one mom and pop occupation that fell off was being a barber.
