I was thinking how to share this story that was so moving to me and involve my oldest son! Our family has gone through a lot lately, my oldest son was married since he was 19 years old over 30 years. His wife had diabetes and they were managing it well for quite a while. They moved to Atlanta after he retired at the age of 50 after working 30 years. But he found himself having to go back to work. He got ill and went to the hospital and was hit with a whopping hospital bill a couple of years later my daughter-in-law was in the hospital suffering from diabetes. She stayed in the hospital several months and they sent her home. She passed from the diabetes in 2023. The hospital bills were astronomical, even though there was insurance from his job. The devastation of losing his wife trying to keep up was a struggle but he is putting his life back together.
We spoke over the weekend and he told me about what if his storage spaces being auctioned off. He said there were pictures in paintings and things that they had acquired over the years of their marriage. Then he told me that the man who purchased the storage unit called him and said that he had gone through his stuff and wanted to give him back some of the pictures artwork and games and items. He sent them to my son and and they had a long conversation and he told my son that it was on his heart to make sure he got those items back. I was talking to my son and he told me the man called him and said guess where I am? And my son said where are you and he said I'm outside of your apartment! My son went out there and this man and his truck brought him some of his other Items from that storage bin. He said he brought cameras and books and things that he had acquired with my daughter-in-law over the years. He didn't have to do that he did. He took the time out to bring it to my son. Then he told my son when you get a vehicle or transportation, you can come down and get the rest of the stuff. You see this man based on like they do on TV television and he sells what's in there so he's a businessman, but he took it on himself to care enough about my son's situation to get to know him and to go out of his way to bring back the memories the items that were important to my son including every day his paintings and artwork. He has been a painter an artist since he was in grade school. The man is a white man from rural Georgia with a Southern drawl and my son is African American. I love it when Trump does not win when racist don't win and we see the goodness of strangers regardless of race!

Reminds me of the time when I took a five gallon gas can, and went to the gas station, filled it up, paid for gas, to give a black family that was broke down on the side of the road in a van with three kids in it. Had to use a funnel to get the gas into the van, so it took a long time, but it gave me pleasure knowing that the van was back on the road, and the three kids were safe.
