3 games in and it's clear opponents are trying to force Wemby out to the perimeter to take long shots or pass to teammates.
The good thing is that Wemby is a skilled passer. And guys like Champagnie and Sochan have played relatively well.
But this makes Wemby somewhat of a passive player and low impact guy on the court...relegating him to being the Texas Rudy Gobert. He will get his rebounds and blocks and little else.
The Spurs have to find a way to get Wemby more involved in the offense. Part of it is on Wemby himself to be aggressive and quicker with the ball. He can't get into these lazy post ups 15 feet from the basket and allow defenders to help or press him. He's gotta spin or cut to the basket immediately. Or bait defenders into fouling him....kinda how Dirk Nowitzki used to.
Wemby only took around 5 free throws a game last year and it's the same thing early on this year.
