What does this mean in English ?

He's basically saying that you have a better chance getting a show green lit these days that's a reboot or a re-make, than you do getting a new original show green lit. These producers and Hollywood exec's are scared to death of taking the leap to create new original programming (especialy on network TV), because 9 times out of 10, they will toss the series in the garbage before you get to episode 5 or 6 of the pilot, if the ratings aren't what they should be. Remakes & re-boots work, because you're relying on nostalgia (which sells), and familiarity.

If a studio owns something like Scooby Doo. They have all the money and what for the production. They can have one of their people own a script, pretty much everything is in house. If it fails, they write it off and in Hollywood math break even, which is different from regular math because if they Invest 11 million and make 11 million in sales technically they profit. They can make 10 Scooby doos. But if they take a chance on a movie they don't own, they lose-lose money and never recoup that lost money.

Anyone in business knows if the business loses money, the CEO or top guy usually gets canned.

Yep... it's 2025, so you know they're going to have a gay black male character running around being super gay every episode. They will also have that extra, extra Pro Black character that’s going to be made to look stupid and proven wrong every other episode.
