Sitting here thinking about these tunes and the mood therein compared to now shows you exactly how traumatized society and the people in it have become since the mid 90s. We lived it and can feel it but the tunes reflect the mood of the youth and even though we had way less and the world was much wilder we still had an optimistic, uplifted spirit.

That aspect is dangerously low these days as evidenced by whats popular. Not rose tinting it because like I said the 90s were rough in so many ways but the people hadn't been through the ringer in terms of the global trauma collective yet and there was still hope and innocence on offer. The latter is long gone, the former is rapidly eroding in most of the new jack hustled.... They've got way more outside but much less inside and that emptiness is hard to fill when you can't feel it in the first place.
