New York (PIX11) — More than 50 Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) groups from across the country have released an open letter calling for justice for Akai Gurley.

The unarmed, 28-year-old was killed by NYPD Officer Peter Liang on Nov. 20, 2014.

Officer Liang was conducting a vertical patrol in the Louis H. Pink Houses in East New York when he fired a shot that killed Gurley, who was visiting the home of his girlfriend.

The Asian American and Pacific Islander organizations who have signed the letter represent diverse constituencies across all regions of the U.S. The letter has also been signed by almost 200 leaders in the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

The release of the letter follows calls from some Asian Americans for the charges against Officer Liang to be dropped.

Now why'd you have to go and disrupt the circle jerk.

They're smart. Do they really want black people boycotting these chinese restaurants? We know the answer...

That's a good point, they know who is sending their kids to college and paying for that BMW M3 and the house on the hill. Good on them for calling for justice on that cop but we need to sit back and consider all the angles as to why they might be doing this.

And Asians keep their eyes on the prize. Notice the bit about 'racial AND ECONOMIC justice' at the end. We gotta be on the same economic empowerment tip, period point blank.

this picture is very telling and very calculated, note all the American flags. If this isn't enough to get Black people in New York to boycott all Chinese places of business, nothing is.

I agree.

Just look at what Texas folks done, when they boycotted the gas station the racist chink once own.

Most of us will never do it. That's why I stop eating Chinese food.. I cook my own meal. Most of us is lazy, ignorant, and blind to see this. It will take some time for more black folks to open their eyes. It's easy to ruin another persons business by not supporting it.
