meh, nothing really interesting in those quotes.

its cool him saying all that but he named a song called What Would Meek Do about a guy younger than him
one of the most pathetic dikkriding instances that never gets spoke about

Certain people will be in their feelings but he's right. Pusha is never gonna get a hit song with some trendy two minute track, he's never gonna go viral with a relationship track, he's never going to have a club anthem. So why chase it when you can just make good music, with the best producers imaginable. Lot of dudes in the game need to learn that lesson, frankly. In fact, the vast majority of rappers over 40 need to understand this.

Jim Jones is out here making generic Madden music instead of doing anything that sounds halfway decent, or like he's halfway invested in it.

"Wasted Talent" is full of good songs but I guess it wasn't lucrative enough for Jim so he went back to trend hopping

It's kinda wild tho. There are artists who have really chased every single trend in Hip-Hop from the early 2000s til now. nikkas is 40+ doing drill music.

Sweet Serenade was always dope me, still play it sometimes. Doesn't feel like an attempted cross over, despite the feature.

can't really think of him trying to make those forced club hits, that everyone from Jadakiss, to Jim Jones, to Joe Budden tried and tried for years. Not to take away from them as artists but their label obligations and probably higher ambitions demanded it.

For as many totally wack tracks that become hits, it's still not really possible to just cook up a hit on purpose.

I feel that every song is meant to be the most popular song ever.. unless you're not really trying. But if you have what you think is a dope idea, you expect others to dig it, too.

It's just that sometimes MAD people like it. And that's a pop record.

What people call independent or underground or whatever, has a much smaller audience. That's not "on purpose", it's just as far as they can take it.

Pusha has his lane, same with Jim. They don’t have to chase hit records. We live in a era where it doesn’t matter anymore. Good music is the important thing.
