What does that have to do with Microsoft owning two huge video game publishers?
Everything. Them buying both ZeniMax and Activation still only puts them at the #3 gaming company. It doesn't make them a disproportionate sized company compared to others in the space.

People are objecting this simply because they don't like large companies combining but if Microsoft was able to swing this deal if they didn't another company would have.

We're to the point now where consolidation in the media space is the way of the world.

Sure, but as gamers we’re discussing how this changes the video game landscape.
Microsoft and Sony buying publishers and of this quality is not good, considering both have reason to make big third-party games exclusive to their respective consoles.
Let’s also remember that the difficulty in breaking into the console space is damn near impossible, Apple, Amazon, Facebook etc. don’t have the luxury of having a dedicated, familiar box to sell.

Last I knew Apple made more in gaming than anyone in the console space and doesn't want to enter that space. Nor does Facebook, or Amazon.

You speak of exclusives like that's not already happening. This move is good for the console space. Sony's dominance in it over Microsoft's was too lopsided and moves like that instantly make Microsoft more competitive. When these companies compete against each other we all win as consumers as they try harder to win our business.
