up until now, you always hear ppl saying that humans/homo sapiens/whatever is the only species that kill for fun or torture other beings etc

but what about a mouse that catches it's prey, and plays with it

today I observed a cat in a alley doing this

kind of strange, no?
so animals can be cruel too :why::sadbron:

What is your question? Can animals be cruel or animals can torture?

Cruel, defined as causing pain or suffering.

That is definitely the case with the very nature of hunting.

Torture, defined as the action or practice of inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment or to force them to do or say something, or for the pleasure of the person inflicting the pain

Maybe not so much but who truly knows? For what reason is the cat playing with the mouse? Curiosity?

Well, let's just say animals can be cruel. Torture is unknown because we are ignorant of their motives for prolonging death in the cat & mouse scenario.

Yes it is. So is killer whales who bat sea lions and seals back and forth with their tails like volleyballs before they eat them.

Nah..they do it out of curiosity, not because they enjoy hurting it.

If you think about it like that human cruelty might just be a result of animal curiosity and instinct for violence being processed by a mind too complex for its own good.

This should have ended the thread.

the only thing sole exclusive to human beings is the fact that we cry tears

alligators and elephants have tears as well, but not for emotional purpose, only to moisturize their eye region
