Do you really think Knicks fans aren't grateful?

Or is it that the fanbase is so large that you'd be able to find large numbers of loud opinions wherever you look?

I mean...look at the other threads as sample sizes... Walk into them, you'll find some opinions that represent everything from the sane to the outrageous...but their fan bases are so small that it makes no noise.

shyt's overblown.
other fanbases dont really disrespect their past players unless they ask for a trade
knick generally fans fall into the hype

year 1. we love melo, he gonna win us ring
year 2. we love lin, lets build around him, trade melo
year 3. melo shoulda won mvp, the knicks are back
year 4- melos playing his ass off, 62 point game, he needs more help
year 5- we hate melo lol

i could do the same thing with ewing, allan houston, marbury (lessen extent) etc, but i think you get the point

missing the point as usual

No dumbass your point hinges on them being comparable, Ewing and Melo were both All stars but Ewing was a tier above Melo. The fans were not that harsh on Ewing, his relationship was bad with the NY media not necessarily the fanbase, and that had alot to do with Ewing's personality. Melo wasn't treated as harshly by the NY media even though he was less talented and less successful than Ewing.

:gucci: In his last season as a Knick he was 37 years old, fans wasn't shytting on him but knew it was time to move on. Furthermore, you are comparing that to Melo who was 32 in his last year as a Knick. The fan base didn't react the same way for the most part because it's obviously different circumstances.

:heh:You continue to be the shyttiest poster in this thread with your passive aggresive shots at folks who didn't rock with Melo,

Love him or hate him, Knicks fans all stood up for Patrick Ewing last night.

And stood.

And stood.

They leapt up and cheered deafeningly when the former Knicks No. 33 and now Sonics No. 33 appeared on the Garden floor wearing an opposing jersey for the first time as a pro for pregame layup drills.

They jumped up and clapped so wildly for Ewing through “The Star-Spangled Banner” that they easily drowned out the anthem. They went berserk again during a touching video tribute the Knicks put together for their former star player.

The Garden gave it up for Patrick.

Following a video tribute that began with commissioner David Stern announcing Patrick Ewing as the Knicks’ No. 1 pick in 1985, “the Big Fella” received nearly a three-minute standing ovation last night in his first Garden homecoming.

Before player introductions, a minute-long video was shown, spanning his 15-year career, finishing with the message “Welcome Home Patrick”, as the crowd howled.

When it ended, the ovation continued for more than two minutes as Ewing, with a grin on his face, waved to all corners of the crowd. He did not appear to be teary-eyed as his Sonic teammates and former Knick mates stood and applauded. There were absolutely no boos from the crowd.

love him or hate him? i thought you said no one hated him? lmao

u on melos dikk breh, seek help lol this isnt about him

"Two weeks earlier, during the Knicks’ second-round series against Miami, Ewing had decided he was through in New York. A Garden fan had screamed, “You’re a bum,” after the Knicks lost Game 3 of the series in overtime.

The taunt hurt him far more than it should have. At that point, Ewing decided he would attempt to break free of New York when the playoffs ended."

"Everybody was talking about how the team was better off without me, so ... " he said, leaving you to finish the thought.

knick fans dont appreciate their players in general
we booed patrick ewing and ran him out of town. said the team was better without him, sound familar? lol
everyone rides his dikk now, but most of yall was ready to ship his ass out
allan houston took us to 99 finals, he got hurt and we booed lol
so in that aspect, melo had no chance.

knick fans will cheer someone like amare because he played good the first 30 games of a 5 year contract lmao doesnt matter that he stole money for the last 4, he was a mvp candidate for 30 games so hes a knick legend. melo was a mvp candidate for a full season, finished third in voting behind 2 legends, actually won us a playoff series but dat doesnt matter.

but let david lee and his zero playoff appearances walk through that door and he get a standing ovation:russ:

This is all types of wrong.

Nobody ran Ewing out of town, his time was up and he still felt he could play when he was obviously done. But no real Knicks fan fronts on him like he wasn't the heart of the team for years...Melo is not that stature NOT EVEN CLOSE.

It's hard to play in NY, period. It is what it is it's never gonna change.

Amare isn't a Knick legend but he gets some respect cause he came here as a free agent when nobody else wanted to. Melo made us gut the team so he could play in NY to build his "brand" and get paid max money. Smart business move on his part, but what does that mean for us as fans? Nothing. We rode with Melo when he was in his prime and he was exciting to watch at times, some real great moments, but overall he proved he wasn't a superstar on the level of Lebron and Wade. That's okay. But once he was over the hill and refused to alter his game it was high time for him to get the fukk outta here. Knicks fans down owe Melo shyt.

:dame:You say I'm on his dikk but you get in your feelings whenever posters clown him, even going so far as to take quotes out of context to continue this false equivalency https://nypost.com/2001/12/09/why-ewing-wanted-out-of-new-york/

Sentences written right before the one you posted...

Two days earlier at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks’ bid to return to the NBA Finals had ended against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

After the game, Ewing walked through the hallway connecting the two locker rooms on his way to his car parked beneath the Garden. Two EMT workers offered consoling words.

“You’re still the man,” one of the men said to Ewing.

“Not anymore,” Ewing responded in a barely audible voice.

The other worker said to Patrick, “You’ll still get your ring.”

Ewing looked up and said, “I hope so.”

Then he continued on to his car, not knowing if he’d ever again make this walk from the Knicks’ locker room.
