Missed the game. Can someone summarize it please

:feedme:

Hornacek played small ball line ups starting off with THJR and Lee on the floor and continued all night with playing just one big man at the time. It looked good but not sure how that's gonna work out with KP not willing to play center. So even with KP and O'Quinn not playing there wasn't really enough time for Hernangomez. Kanter started well, very smooth in pick n rolls and post, offense ran through him. But will probably be the most frustrating player this season with his defense and letting rebounds hit the floor :scust: THJR was good when not forcing shots. Off the ball defense was not good and looks even worse when combined with Kanter and slow point guards :manny: Noah and Dotson did well.

Main issue is that there are too many players with similar styles and strengths/weaknesses at each position. Decisions need to be made on who gets the minutes/spots:

O'Quinn :hula:Noah

Willy :hula:Kanter

Lance :hula:McDermott
Jack :camby:

Obviously we need to cut down on our bigs and the dead weight that def not making it on the roster.

One thing that has been said that I haven't come around on over the summer is trading Courtney Lee. I think at least for this season we need to keep him. We need to trade either Lance or Kylo...

All of our best lineups are small ball oriented. Kristaps should start acclimating himself to playing center more often

DVR'ed the game and watched it hungover after a looooong damned night, so I didn't watch as closely as usual but some game 2 thoughts and observations:
- Courtney Lee is really good. I could see hanging on to him until a team that has big aspirations and needs a wing reaches out (like Charlotte who just lost Batum would be an interesting target if they didn't just draft Monk but injuries will happen in the season).

- Kanter has had 3 good quarters and the rest have been ineffective and with absolutely zero rim protection. He's also been a weak defensive rebounder so far, getting out worked on that end but being much more effective on offensive boards.

- Damyean Dotson feels like a positive impact piece already. A push to move Lee sooner instead of waiting out a package starts with the fact that this kid could really use some minutes and I suspect he'd be pretty good out the gate. Two games and short minutes isn't gonna tell you the whole story but so far it's a clear difference both times he's out there.

- Beasley been low key really good. He's playing motivated defense, passing the ball and scoring pretty well which was all I really expected on signing him. All around, he's been one of our best.

- McDermott's dedication to off ball movement and cuts is duly noted.

- Jack's ability to get to the line showed up in the second game. Sessions has the cagey vet look down to a T and has been the better of the two. I picture Jeff starting a vet early if Frank misses any more time because of how cautious he is with youth.

- Both Lance and Noah got in during this game and both guys looked healthy enough. With the defensive needs, both guys can be spot players but with the move toward youth that's about it. Depressing when you consider their contracts.

- Willy's not getting enough minutes and it's only the preseason. Kanter might be the more reliable scorer right now but it'd be great to see Willy get the same opportunities to make it a fair fight.

- The defense is probably gonna suck. Maybe the communication stuff is a slow burn to quality but look at the personnel.

- Not as impressed with Timmy as others have been. I don't like his defensive play in the first two and he's a gunner more than anything. Dotson goes out there and tracks a ton of rebounds, Lee goes out there and the team defense immediately improves, I want THJ to find a place like that to impact the game. Transition assists and some defensive boards both seem like realistic options.

- XRM and Hayes got burn again which is time that players fighting for rotation spots could have used.
