DR is doing a lousy job protecting their tourist as of recently. When I was in Medellin the entire hotel staff including the manager that barely spoke English made sure my Black ass was gucci.
If you don't mind being in a landlocked city then yea. Was amazing. But I wanna check out Cartagena on the coast and it has a lot of Afro-Colombians.
It's a vibrant city with a lot to see, but it's not super touristy so your dollar goes along way. With the Metro and the Metro cable you can see the whole city without getting in a cab.
