naw, this is a myth perpetuated by SGP and his stans.
First off, Get High still had what is now known as the ASAP sound. It still had the lil chopped and screwed portions of the song and the content was pretty much the same. I don't doubt SGP influenced ASAP to some degree, but to credit him with making the ASAP sound or giving him a style to run with is asinine when he only produced 2 songs for Rocky in total.
Clams Casino and Ty Beats produced ASAP's most popular songs and most of their music on a whole. Now if you wanna say that SGP is the creator of that slowed-down, dreamy/spacy sound, and that anybody that produces music that sounds like that got their influence from... SGP, then be my guest
I mean I listen to "Purple Swag" at the beginning with the Mortal Kombat "Smoke" Sample, which Purrp had been doing for awhile and the whole aura of the beat... Even if he didn't produce the track its obvious he had a little influence on those guys. I think they played off of eachother a little bit to be honest, or collaborated. Now that they aren't cool anymore Purrp switched it to "biting" even though when you were along for the ride, you didn't mind the collaboration... The thing is... in a couple years we'll see, but as of right now, RaiderKlan makes better music than ASAP and they have more talented artists. ASAP is obviously bigger right now though...
