I mean he aint wrong and no lies were told. I still remember I was telling my friends about Black Panther years ago and the possibility it was coming out as a live action movie. They looked at me crazy acting like I was talking about the civil rights BP and low key tried to clown. Trailer came out last year during the NBA playoffs and the whole house looked at me like I was crazy bc I was hyped. This year all these nikkas talking about Wakanda this and that acting like they been fans. I had to remind them over the weekend I tried to tell them 2 years ago this shyt was gonna be big and how important it was gonna be for black entertainers and actors as far as opening doors and getting backing for smart black films.
Same shyt with this younger chic I was seeing last year who was a super feminist/fake woke (didnt find out until later). Chilled with her one day and came over to her place with a BP shirt on and she asked me who was it "some kind of ninja". I told her nah its T'Challa aka BP and she had no idea what I was talking about. Broke the whole thing down and she shrugged it off saying "But its just a comic book so its not real and black people don't read them". Talked to her after the big opening week and before I can finish she says" Yea but they not giving any of that money to the black community"..
Showed her a link to Marvel giving money to Oakland for STEM research and she goes radio silent...
I love my people but we have a bad habit of either trying to reject or clown any knowledge we give to each other and then wait until the TV or social media tells us to like something. Have pride and confidence in people that look like you and stop being brainwashed or waiting to be told what to reject or like.
Don't even get me started on this music shyt. This shyt is so trash and disposable now its crazy. Everybody scared to be labeled a hater no one will speak up and if they do they considered old and bitter by the youngsters. I'm just gonna be real here...this generation hates their own culture but sits back and wants to complain when other races come in studies it, appreciates it, and excels which explains this Bruno shyt to a T. Don't get mad now. You rejected your culture or said "thats some old head shyt" when a black artists presents the same music to you that you don't support and then turnaround and turn up garbage ass Lil whatever the fukk of the week rapper. shyt don't complain now. You don't support your own don't try to demand some kind of payback for them now that they have blown up and winning awards off of the very music you didnt like or support to begin with. shyt this very site is proof enough. Cats don't support Syd, H.E.R., Zo!, Foreign Exchange, Phonte, Anderson Paak, Brent Faiyaz, Children of Zeus, or Daniel Caeser. Hell I could go on for days. The Lounge forum is full of artist like that but the simple fact is they get little to support.
