"half of yall dont even appreciate high level Black art until its supported by White benefactors.."

9th talking that sh!t.. :whew:

That's the gem that needs to be picked from this rant. But it'll be ignored.
But out of all the artist he listed, 3 of the 4 have Grammy noms. We all know it’s fukk the Grammies but that’s a hell of a promotion. And wasn’t Rhapsody nominated too? I fukk with 9th (NCCU :salute:) but this sounds hypocritical.
Where is the hypocrisy in anything he's said?

Its for the people complaining about burno co opting the culture. Hes basically saying if you don't like whats put on then support and actually pay for the black R&B artist that are out.
which is dumb because people do support those artist they just dont get exposure. paak is starting to get exposure since he signed to dre and apple gone help push him.

saying “go support the artist you like” isnt the right thing to say when people have been doing that and they still on the outside looking in.

Facts.

What does white people appropriating black music have to do with black fans not being able to push their favorite artists past gold with ease?

It's a cop out really. Does appropriation happen, yes. Is the industry racist, yes. But what does that have to do with YOU not buying YOUR favorite artists music?

People want it both ways :russ:

Don't support black artists but want black artists to be the forefront :mjlol:

9th kept it all the way real :wow:
This is why I support black artist's.
This is why I'm like the only poster on here constantly bringing up indie Jazz musicians
or emphasizing the brilliance in Soul or Funk in the face of all this Rock dikk riding
on a fukking Hip-Hop forum.

The thing about Bruno and this whole situation is that I know that if he were black and making the same kind of music he’s making (the 90s throwback stuff), he wouldn’t be selling all of these records or receiving all of these accolades.

You do know bruno mars was a really big deal before 24 karat magic i dont think him not being black has anything to do with the sells & accolades

All his music is throwback anyway even the way he dresses & wears his hair

He wasn’t really making R&B before 24K Magic though. Atleast the music I’ve heard from him before then didn’t sound R&B.

The only song I could think of that appealed to the urban/black crowd was “Uptown Funk”.

hella cacs itt. they said bruno won because of the 90s sound he used to appeal to the modern landscape. he didn’t do anything to that sound. all he did was not be black.

if that was the case then take care and views should have won aoty. no album brought that sound into a modern context with the music the way those albums did.

cacs gonna always hate on modern black culture.

michael jackson had to fight to get his shyt recognized back then, cause his music was looked at like how drake and to a different extent, a guy like bryson tiller’s music is looked at today — as disposable.

y’all think the sound black ppl enjoy today is disposable cause cacs always look at the modern black man as disposable.

remember that term “the only useful n***** is a dead n*****”

it couldn’t be more literal when it comes to music.

y’all gotta wait at least ten years or until a cac finds a way to commodify the sound until yall respect it.

9th a legend but he rambling rn. :francis:

It's not even so much buying, just that theirs no support due to word of mouth and shyt because close minds just want to be part of the hype. The youth is stupid af
