They were both in the 2s. After nWo they got in the 3s and 4s.
Yeah there’s no question the NWO gave them a boost that led to them winning the ratings battle for about a year and a half. And of course the WWF left them in the dust not too long after that.

I’m just saying there’s a lot of revisionist history from WWF folks around that time who act like WCW was some bush league who only became a problem when Hall and Nash got there. In reality they were neck and neck since Nitro’s beginning up until the NWO’s formation.

I repeat, the head to head ratings were 16-15-2 at the point that Hall debuted.

All that “my friends weren’t watching it” shyt isn’t relevant.

The ratings had nothing to do with it. When times were great it was WWF. When times were shyt it was still WWF. House shows tv viewers, merchandise and PPVs the WWF was always the better of the 2. Jim Crockett sold the NWA to Ted Turner because he was losing money. Turner then rebranded NWA into WCW and it was still losing money until they brought in Hogan in 94 and started to make a modest profit in 95. The only time WCW was relevant was the NWO angle and Goldberg. The WWF had major stars in the mid to late 80's and then created more stars in the mid to late 90's.

Wcw had way more watchable matches during the early 90s.

Definitely have aged better than the stuff wwe was doing back then.

Hogan brought his played :flabbynsick: out gimmick & brought down wcw athletic ring performance with all that cornball superhero/supervillain crap.

Nash & hall really balanced it all out when they popped up.

WCW had better midcard matches and more overall good wrestlers back then. Dean Malenko vs. Eddie Guerrero > Fatu vs. Bob Holly. Better tag team matches too.

And Brian Pillman was must-see television to me. Dude seemed legitimately crazy and unpredictable.

WWF had better top card wrestling matches with HBK, Hitman, Taker, Owen, and Bulldog.
