:ohhh: he connected with a left hook to the body...and combined with burnett overextending his right hand (which i thought was the lone issue) tore his oblique..sheesh :wow:

donaire's left hook is incredible

Yeah. When he landed that left hook downstairs he visibly winced & was never the same afterward. I rewatched the whole fight after to make sure too. Inoue better be careful; I don't think he's faced a puncher yet & Nonito's probably the best puncher at the lower weights currently (along with Tank)

Inoue Admits He Punished Rodriguez Over Incident With Father

By Hisao Adachi

On Tuesday, the Japanese sensation Naoya "Monster" Inoue (18-0, 16 KOs) triumphantly returned to Japan at Haneda international airport in Tokyo after having an explosive victory in the semi-finals of the World Boxing Super Series bantamweight tournament.

Last Saturday at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Inoue blew away undefeated Emmanuel Rodriguez in two rounds to win the IBF bantamweight crown.

He now faces WBA champion Nonito Donaire in the final round of the WBSS tournament.

When Inoue arrived in Japan, over 300 people including journalists thronged with loud cheers all ove rthe airport/

The boxer says there was no damage sustained during the contest.

"The first thing I want to do now is have a good rest here in Japan, surrounded by my family," Inoue said.

"I did not suffer anything physically in my fight with Emmanuel Rodriguez. Right now there are no problems or injuries on my body. The fight was over faster than I imagined. But what concerned me was the performance in the fight, I give myself a score of 100."

During the pre-fight media events, there was a confrontation during the public training sessions - which created a lot of tension between the two teams.

Shingo Inoue, father and coach of Naoya, was using hiss smartphone to take pictures while Rodriguez was doing his training. Then, Williams Cruz, coach of Rodriguez, suddenly came over and and shoved Shingo Inoue to prevent him from taking further photos.

Naoya Inoue was not present when this happened, but he wanted to do a lot of damage when he entered the ring.

"Truly, this event that happened to my father was an incident that got me angry.... because of the behavior of Puerto Rican coach with no respect for my father. This is the reason why I decided to jump right into the fight to knock Emmanuel Rodriguez out at all costs, to hit him as hard as ever in a vindictive way."

of course he did lol

@Yuzo

I'm just now noticing Inoue in the Rodriguez fight where keeps his chin in the air when punching & not punching. I'll have to check but I wonder if he does it every fight or just for this one. That's a HUGE no no when fighting Donaire

Dorticos: No Doubt I'll Eliminate Tabiti, Then Face Briedis in Final

Yunier ‘The KO Doctor’ Dorticos (23-1, 21 KOs) vows to bring fireworks to Latvia when he faces Andrew ‘Beast’ Tabiti (17-0, 13 KOs) in one of the two WBSS Semi-Finals at the Arena Riga in Riga on June 15.

Dorticos won a tough twelve round unanimous decision over Mateusz Masternak in his quarter-final. So far so good for the ambitious KO artist.

And being among the last four again this season means that the Cuban has the ultimate occasion of redeeming himself after last year’s semi-final defeat against Murat Gassiev, and reach the final for the Ali Trophy in the cruiserweight edition of the World Boxing Super Series.

How has training been going?
“Training has been amazing and I have trained like never before.”

What have you learned from last year’s semi-final experience?
“It was an amazing experience that thought me a whole lot. Gassiev was a totally different fighter than what Tabiti is. The experience I gained in last year’s semi-final will definitely make the difference in the Season 2 semi-final this time around.”

What do you think of your opponent Tabiti?
“I respect any man who gets in a ring but Tabiti is in my way to the final and I will eliminate him at all cost.”

Do you have a message for him?
“Tabiti be prepared because what’s coming for you is pure fire!”

What can the fans in Riga expect to see from you?
“The fans in Riga can expect a show, I’m a prize fighter and I’m going to make sure they get their money’s worth and more. When ‘The KO Doctor’ goes in that ring it will be nothing but fireworks and excitement. I don’t come to run, I come to fight!”

What is your dream scenario for the fight?
“To knock Tabiti out of the ring!”

Have you been seeing or following the other divisions in the WBSS?
“Yes, both divisions are on fire. Inoue is impressive and so is Prograis.”

Who do you think you will face in the final?
“The final for the WBSS Season 2 will be Dorticos vs. Briedis, no doubt about that!”

The WBSS returns on June 15 with a sensational doubleheader at the Arena Riga in Riga, Latvia: Mairis Briedis vs Krzysztof Glowacki and Yunier Dorticos vs Andrew Tabiti for spots in the Cruiserweight Final for the Ali Trophy.
