I'm too young to remember the 80s but old enough to appreciate it's legacy. I remember in high school when the source had an anniversary issue and was mentioning all the past five Mic albums. Got put on to artists like krs one, bdk, and one of my top five, rakim. Then thru out the years i got put on to other genres as well. These days one of my top Pandora stations is 60, 70, and 80s hits radio. They might not play only 80s songs but i appreciate it all. Sometimes better than the music today. Gotta keep it old school.

Neck ties and boxing gloves.
No.

I'll give you Metallica, The Clash, Elvis Costello,Thriller, and old school rap.

And acts from before the eighties like Springsteen that were still relevant.

Music was still recovering from Disco and poor clothing decisions.

But no.

And that's just taking it easy on you.

I don't know. I'm a punk/alternative (college rock) fan, and the 80s were the best decade for those genres (even better than the 90s were for alternative, in my opinion).

A few classics:

Agent Orange - Living in Darkness
Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime
Descendents - Milo Goes to College

Of course, there were tons of gems by Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, Replacements, Dramarama, the Pogues, Social Distortion (personal favorite), sonic youth. Obviously, "Appetite for Destruction" is all-time. Nirvana's "Bleach" came out in 89.

So, I guess it depends on what you consider "80s music." If you mean Flock of Seagulls and hair metal, that's one thing. But, if we're literally referring to music that came out in the 80s, the decade was very rich with classics.
