Let's simplify this shyt. The people in this country are getting softer, there are more rules to abide by, and the penalties are harsher. People are staying inside more and doing less things. Some people are just as alpha as they always were, but their numbers have decreased. I think this is a natural result of greater population density. It was bound to happen.

Nah it makes sense. Debt can be a huge psychological downer. Many will feel some way about protesting against a system they already feel they owe, others might be afraid to do anything that might compromise their chances of ever becoming debt free.

I guess we'll see. The more of the people that see whats REALLY going on, the more that would be down to protest. Or maybe not since they have iphones, hd tvs, ps4s and other things they think they "need".

We used to talk about this a lot in class. Many sociologist predicted this pacification a long time ago, and not just for the youth. But I postulated then, that it wasn't just the distraction. There's been distraction for a long time of many forms. First of all, you have to pacify their parents with success and comfort that is a reward of not just normal compliance, but specific political compliance. Why would the boomers rock the boat at this point? Why would they push their children to in their formative years? With the parents being rewarded socially and financially for compliance, and politically laying down to a very specific lifestyle, why would the youth rebel if they can be rewarded for the same. The devices are just a means. The same thing was done with the "right" books and church music. Just look at what represents rebellion in the US. Its often music that talks about injustice in the street or doesn't follow the whitewashed recipe for music.. Its often a dissenting attitude against conservative values which reach everywhere from building neighborhood killing tollways to using tax dollars to lure businesses to residential areas to make a few real estate barons. Whenever a minority leader speaks up they are going against that status quo. When you have people that want a traditional education they are looked down upon because they won't have a cushy engineering job, instead that are seen as burdening society with their student loans instead of the education being less or being free. How dare someone want to think independently about where we live. You just get a technical job and do your job and go home. Hell, when a non-compliant political candidate wants to bring new ideas to office, they are publicly humiliated.

Parents drive this attitude into their children, so the most successful children are the most compliant. This is the celebrating of the "Tiger Mom" because nevermind having a kid that is an American free thinker, we want children just like the Chinese......................................who are the result of generations of Communist controlled China. Think about that. The toys are just toys. Toys aren't new. Even in the most harsh of regimes, a doll is enough to quiet a young kid. Take away the toy from the kid that is made to shut up everyday and they will still be quiet. Turn that toy into Teddy Ruxpin and you can control the message and mesmerize the kid into learning the message you want. This is what is happening. We have toys, yes, but we were already pacified and most will do the same with their kids in the name of "making it" in the suburban, white value set with political and social compliance.

It seriously saddens me when I see highschool kids now, particularly when I talk to them...this country is fuked :(
When I start seeing stuff like this I know I'm getting older. No different then the cats older than us saying the same thing. It never fails and in 10 or so years it'll be the same thing with the younger skinny dudes crew lol

i think @chefmate7days hit the nail on the head with his comment about people feeling like they still might become the 1%. you dont rise against something you still want to be a part of. the american dream is on its deathbed, but it's still struggling to breathe. OWS was a turning point, but if you really look at it, it was a mixed message - some were against the very system itself, but others were merely complaining that the system is not rewarding them for having followed the rules. that mental investment in the american dream is the single biggest impediment to "resistance"

We're too busy tweeting, vining, facebooking, instagramming, buzzfeeding, pinteresting, memeing, planking, tebowing, sleeping, fukking, drinking, smoking, working, partying, clubbing, stunting/fronting, dancing, trolling-- hell, just about anything but reading, thinking, learning and reacting to all the bullshyt this country has to offer... that is unless you're a "square" :leostare: I'm grinding like hell to get the fukk outta here for a good min brehs :wow: I gotta see something different, something organic. This CAN'T be all there is to life :why:

These teachers killed the hunger in learning within children and on top of that, these jobs are taking away our rights by surfing our FBs, IGs, and so on and spying on what employees do in their spare time. People been conditioned to such bullshyt that they lost their humanity.

Yes and no.
I see and say the same thing my parents did BUT things are getting worse. The country is polarizing, and not on political lines but on economic ones and per this:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/s...f-civilisation-in-coming-decades-9195668.html

that's not a good thing. Things are getting worse though and our kids kids will likely be left holding the check...

The average young person in the US is not starving.

Stop promoting this Marxist level of thinking

They might be but I just hear this all the time that's all and it seems cyclical
Read that article man, humanity and civilizations are cyclical is what's sad.

Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

STEM is important, but the more I think on it you gotta know where you came from before you can really know where you're going otherwise you just end up where you been.

"Marxist" thinking is human nature. It is humanity that wants us to do something bold and different. People who sacrifice it for a good paying job are the ones that will fukk us up as a whole. There is a difference between discipline and brain-washing.
