I mean sure it has its surprises but my thing is, how about putting on compelling storylines for your midcard championships? That interests me more than an open challenge which screams “well we really have nothing for our midcard champion right now”. Also, Cena was the OG of the weekly open challenge, put on classics week in and week out, everything after just feels like gimmick infringement.
