[8/23/20] 33rd Annual WWE SummerSlam: Orton vs McIntyre, Fiend vs Braun, Sasha/Bayley vs Asuka

This definitely felt closer to a normal show than anything I've seen since March, although beyond the stage I feel like it could have been done at the PC with a green screen just the same. Drew/Orton was way better than Orton/Edge. Fiend/Braun just highlights how stupid all the booking has been all year.

Roman/Fiend at WM was the original plan. Changed to have Goldberg squash and damn near kill the Fiend gimmick with the intention of having Goldberg drop the title to Roman at WM instead. Then Roman backs out, so Braun gets plugged in and wins the title from Goldberg, only to drop it to The Fiend, which is a set up for....a Roman Reigns return and go for the title that now belongs to The Fiend once again. So basically the entire past 6 months of Universal Championship booking was completely pointless

Kristen Ashly of Bell to Belles noted on Twitter last night that she was one of the fans participating in the ThunderDome during Summerslam and that a director of sorts was instructing fans in the ThunderDome to “go nuts” after the opening pyro, to give a thumbs down to Sonya Deville, to raise their red cups for the Street Profits, to not move their screens around, to avoid putting their fingers on the cameras, and that there was a lag between what fans were actually doing and what showed up on TV.
As reported earlier, WWE has been using ‘fan coordinators’ on the headset telling the participants who to cheer and who to boo.

It does add something to the show. Keep in mind, the entire thing is fake anyways, them producing the fans isnt destroying democracy or something.

Certain things should be booed out for being trash. Period.

Personally, if I was watching alone and was trynna listen to the commentary I would get annoyed at them disruptions. And if I was with a group we probably wouldn’t be listening to them anyway.

Kevin Owens talked about the time after WM 32 when he fought Chris Jericho and he came back through the gorilla position lookin for Vince's approval on the match but Vince told him he wasnt happy with his performance

Owens seemed sad like his daddy was disappointed in him

The Roman surprise was actually good. He should be like this from. Now On. I hope wwe finally realizes people want to see edgier characters. Roman should be mad as he never got his title shot.

the drew and Orton finish was well done cause no one hit their finish. In an anger where finishes are spammed this was nice to see

The Fiend's matches have the most anticlimatic finishes ever. Slow and plodding throughout with a special even slower build to the flat finish. Sucks all the energy out of any program with him IMO. This Braun finish sucked... Johnny and Ciampa showed us how to do a mat pullback finish (I didn't even love that one but it was light-years ahead of this)
