What an amazing event, that was an incredible watch. I think I like the shorter cards where it kind of gets down to business. That was such a buzz to watch and full of drama.
Whyte was winning that comfortably, knocked down Povetkin twice, then got hit with a phenomenal punch from Povetkin and that can happen at heavyweight boxing with men that size and especially with power.
I thought Whyte would win the fight but was always aware Povetkin's power could cause a problem (as I said prior) to anybody, if he hit anyone in the division like that there would be a problem, that was an amazing clean brutal knockout. Well done to Povetkin for pulling 1 out of the bag.
I can't help but feel sorry for Whyte because he'd waited over 1000 days for his shot, which he deserved, Fury isn't really known as having that 1 punch power Povetkin has been known to so it could have been a different fight.
I feel Whyte got careless cause he was winning, I also feel he was very wrong for allowing Povetkin so close at that stage, I feel like he was experimenting too much, I don't want to be too harsh on him, hell of a punch but I feel it was also an error on Whyte's part, at that stage should have kept him on the end of a jab in my opinion and then broke him down over time and carefully picked his openings being VERY aware of what's coming back, cause after the knockdowns he had the fight won, all he had to do was not get caught and he got caught and KO'd.
It's a disaster for Whyte, for boxing as a whole though maybe will get AJ vs Fury vs Wilder winner now if AJ beats Pulev. That's a mega fight the world wanted the most, this is a major setback for Whyte, even if he does rematch Povetkin and beat him, which is very possible, but now he won't get it 2021, if he gets it will be more like 2022 or after, and that's an if also.
What an epic event though, love boxing, full of drama and suspense. The Katie Taylor vs Delphine Persoon fight is 1 of the best fights I've ever seen, just because it was constantly all action and drama and they went at it so intensely. Every fight was a good-great watch.
Interesting where Whyte will go now, wouldn't be a suprise if there's a Povetkin rematch and now AJ eventually fights Fury or Wilder winner.
That was amazing to watch, great entertainment.
