Why would kings do that
The Kings have Haliburton who already plays Fox position, it doesn't seem like Fox is taking them anywhere, and they get to shake up their roster a bit.

They'd have to get rid of Barnes too since Simmons and Barnes would overlap. The Kings have Haliburton who already plays Fox position, it doesn't seem like Fox is taking them anywhere, and they get to shake up their roster a bit.

3/5ths of their starting lineup in theory would have to go to accommodate Simmons, Haliburton, and whoever they take at 9 and in that instance, they ain't going anywhere with Simmons and Haliburton either.
Haliburton + Buddy Heild or Haliburton + Barnes + Picks probably makes more sense.... Fox is the face of that franchise and one of the few things they've gotten right over the last several years .... I doubt they’ll want to move him so early in his careerThe Kings have Haliburton who already plays Fox position, it doesn't seem like Fox is taking them anywhere, and they get to shake up their roster a bit.

I dont think the cost really matters to the kings.... Their likely not major players in free agency no big max contract guys are going there so the money issue doesn't seem to have much meat on the bone IMO... They'd be better off sticking with that Ben + Fox duo and trying to find a 3rd piece via trade...both dudes are young enough to develop something aroundI like both players, but Fox is and will be more expensive, and he seems stagnant. Some Kings fans feel that Haliburton is already a better player than Fox.
By moving fox for simmons and barnes elsewhere, I haven't done the numbers but that should free up some cap to fill out the rest of the roster.

Hali being better than Fox is new to me.. I haven't heard that take before... And I'm not sure I buy it... Foxes ability to get past his defender and explode at the rim (pause) is exactly what you want from a lead scorer come playoff time... I don't think that's the kind of player Hali is or will be
If you can get Ben and Fox then by all means do it, but I'm assuming Philly would want a Fox package over a Hali package
InterestingThe Hali > Fox take is pretty common, I've even seen it on this board. I personally don't have a dog in the fight because I don't watch the Kings enough to know, every time I see both players though, they play well.
The significance of freeing up the cap is that you should be able to get high level guys to cover your weaknesses even though they aren't stars. Guys like Tim Hardaway Jr. come to mind. This is how you build teams like the current Utah Jazz.
You know this is actaually an interesting ass question on value... for Philly which would be better
Hali + Barnes + 9th pick
Vs
Fox
The shooting and growth potential of the hali package may actually be intriguing to the sixers over a deal centered around Fox..idk... But Fox isn't really a shooter if you want that next to embiid
Interesting
Mehhh a team like the Jazz is overwhelmingly built via the draft and trades... Not Free Agency...the only significant free agent signing they had was Bojan who didn't really push them over the hill or anything
2. Fox and Simmons are both on rookie max deals (Ben on a rookie Supermax) which are smaller than regular max deals so even with both of those guys you’d still have cap flexibility to do what you're saying and add a mid tier player next summer... Doing a quick scan of their books and swapping Hali + Barnes money for Ben they'd only have about 80-85 million on the books which would leave them around 20 million in cap space
They been waiting for 5 years he ain’t improving shyt..If I was the 76ers I would wait until the season see if he improved and if not pull that kings trade asap
Yeah, and then when the season starts and the teams interested in trading for him now see him looking the same and take their deals off the table (potentially) then what?If I was the 76ers I would wait until the season see if he improved and if not pull that kings trade asap
