Impact Wrestling Slammiversary Injury Was A Work

Impact Wrestling held their Slammiversary event last night in Dallas, Texas. It was a big show main evented by an intergender match between Sami Callihan and Tessa Blanchard, however, the company did appear to suffer a big injury during the Impact Tag Team Title triple threat match.

Santana went down clutching his left knee and although it wasn’t caught on camera, Konnan threw up the dreaded X meaning that there was an injury. After the match, Don Callis even left the commentary booth to check on Santana as he was able to make it to his feet and walk to the back with assistance. However, this was all apparently a work.

PW Insider reports that “the Santana injury deal was storyline, not a legit injury.” Therefore, it seems as though Impact Wrestling was intentionally working the fans on this one.

It’s great that Santana isn’t really injured and this was obviously done in a way to explain why LAX didn’t win the match. The Latin American Xchange could be facing a crossroads themselves soon enough as their contracts are running up and there is interest elsewhere. It will be interesting to see where LAX is this time next year.

Man, TNA is about to get decimated by AEW/WWE in the next 6-18 months. 0% chance they keep LAX, The Rascalz, Brian Cage, Tessa Blanchard, Killer Kross, probably Moose and Jordynn Grace as well.

Solid show as all of their PPVs have been in the past year. MOTN was either Cage/Elgin or Tessa/Sami. I'm not a fan of intergender stuff usually, but really Tessa is so far beyond the other female talent TNA has I don't know how you can do anything else with her. I can't believe WWE didn't snap her up after the MYC. She's clearly THE shining star of TNA, but they have no women even near her level. She easily could have been in the WM main event this year.

Do not give a single fukk about god damn Rhyno in 2019, hopefully I never have to see Johnny Nitro or his wife again, Josh Matthews has to be replaced, and please no more ECW shyt :martin: Surprised RVD jobbed clean, lots of neat flippy fukkery in the first two matches.

The range of reactions in this thread to the show :mjlol:

It sucked :hula: it was good

How was Cage/Elgin? That's the only match I was interested in, but I'll check out anything else that's recommended.

They have a ready made childhood family friends become enemies angle they could run with her and Charlotte that would also feature pretty fukking incredible in-ring work yet they won't snatch Tessa up.

Did they not make an offer during MYC 1, or did Tessa turn one down?

Su could legit be the female Mankind if she got the right push

need to give her the strap and have a feud with Taya in a bunch of gimmick matches

all of the bolded happened already. she had that big run last year.

i think she feuded with taya too.

Does Cody count? And probably Moxley depending on what happens to him in the next couple of years

nah

moxley is not a WWE homegrown.

It's weird to see how things turned out for Miz and Morrison. Johnny's done well for himself but I remember when a lot of people felt like he was the future "star" of that duo and Miz was never gonna peak any further than being Johnny's sidekick. I don’t think a lot of people saw them ending up in the positions they're in.

WWE foolishly tried to make Johnny a babyface where he was corny as hell with all dem "Mr. Ziggles" lines Meanwhile Miz grabbed the heel blueprints that Johnny should have followed and ended up with a Hall of Fame career, fine ass wife, a main event spot at WrestleMania and hit USA reality show

I thought it was pretty obvious from the start that the WWE wanted miz to be a star because of his reality TV background and the fact that he could talk.

they threw a ton of undeserved accolades on him because of it. I guess that constitutes as him having a better kayfabe WWE career, but if we're keeping it 100, hes really just an example of WWE chosen one garbage. I wouldn't rank his career over johny's at all.

I would. He's definitely been in better matches and had far better promos than Johnny. Johnny Nitro/Morrison/Mundo/Impact has always sucked as a singles wrestler. He's always sucked at promos. His best run was with MNM where Joey Mercury did all the heavy lifting and thinking and Johnny just went with the wave. His instincts are terrible and are not going to improve 17 years in. His promos are still terrible and are not going to improve 17 years in. His basic strikes and mechanics are still terrible and are not going to improve 17 years in. He still has no grasp on psychology, selling, or story telling, he just wants to do his flippy parkour stuff, which might have been impressive in WWE 10 years ago, but not in the current world of wrestling where every roster has at least 4 guys that do 630s and space flying tiger drops.
