Vince had to go with something effective compared to what he wanted when those guys were around. Those guys largely weren’t in the ring past the point where they were the most over.

They all def benefitted from WWE spreading so thin from the brand split once ECW started and people started retiring. Edge definitely benefitted from being on the island of Smackdown where he only had to worry about jobbing to Taker when he decided to show up.

Edit: Wasn't there a crazy stat about Trips, Cena and Orton being a part of the RAW main event for like 5 straight years?

I used to take bets with my brother for non money shyt over video games. For super smash or Mario cart we used to bet 5 chops to the chest. This shyt stings long after they’re done. Man JR is really in the zone for this match.
