Since I came in at an older age they gave me the OK to move off base immediately, I guess it depends on your situation.Unless you have dependents most branches will have you in the barracks until you are generally a Senior E4 at minimum. So you will either be in the barracks/dorms/ship. But that's neither here nor there.
I hate the BAH system may he higher if you are in a high cost area but it doesn't really matter if you are in the barracks. They will have you paying $1700 to have a roommate or share a bathroom. I really dislike how the military does this. They will show that you got paid the BAH and BAS and than magically take it all talking about housing and meals are provided. No single way in hell is that in anyones but the best interest of the government. Or the other one I dislike if you live on post in military housing they take all of your BAH and you still have to pay some of the utilities...I always tell people if possible to live off post.
Judging by the post I have to say it may be PTSD already there in this poster...Military will probably either make it worse or make it better.
This is my advice to everyone who wants to join. If you got better options in the civilian world I recommenced not going, but if you have no other options in lifeIf you want to join than join...But examine your other options first and remember the military lifestyle and of the branches isn't for everybody.
oh, you're listing the perks for the people that survived all those wars, here you go:
question, were you on the battlefield? if so how is that PTSD?
I'm still serving...15 years in.
Its worth it breh, everyday.
If you go in, make a conscious effort to do all the leadership, training and education you can get your hands on because it's free.
And traveling abroad too.
there’s dudes who never deploy I know dudes who have been in longer than me and never came close to seeing an “enemy”
Now In the Marines the only people in fighting are the Marine Special Operations units everyone is either riding on ships country hoping with the Marine Expedionary Units or doing Theater Security Cooperation or Advisor missions at this point with us being the smallest branch we are very adverse to taking casualties
I Joined at 17 deployed 4 times
Picked up SSgt at 6 1/2 years
About to hit my 8th year in
I’m not a dude that does that rah rah join my branch shyt see which one fits you the best and do it but while you’re in you need to make sure you work toward YOUR future with education and certs.
Asia was dope I went to like 15 countries in 8 months and same for Africa they were purely humanitarian assistance missions honest we barely worked you train with the host nation for a bit then you live with them and see things they need be it infrastructure, security, and projects like food and purified water development.
Brehs what is the best branch for people into chemical engineering? Let me be clear first though I’m one of the military pessimists that are still intrigued by it because you can go back to the community to teach skills
Other than already being interested in chemical engineering for the past several years there is something else related to it that made me more intrigued in my passion so to speak
I’m sure both of y’all have heard about the rumors that the Sudan “crisis” is America trying to get control over having more cobalt in the mines which is used for a lot of our smartphones and electric cars.
This is an example though. It would be dope to be a Spook That Sat By the Door and learn about that whole thing and tell other Black Diasporans about how to make our own products with that chemical or letting them know what the military/government has planned
But is there a branch you guys would say is best for this? Or can it be any?
