She was also driving a Mercedes, which are very well built, extremely safe and basically invented the crumple zones in cars. Couple that with a possible seatbelt and airbag, her chance of survival in a crash like that is astronomically higher than the people she hit, who basically never stood a chance. Those folks basically took the full blast of her car hitting them about 100mph on the side which offers little to no protection
