weapons wise, i would try to find any military national guard establishment to rob dry
No wild as vehicles like that though, unless you just happen to come across something like that in the wild, you wont have that. Work with what ya got
Of course Major big cities would be off limits, but smaller cities are game though. Id raid the least likely places people would think for food and water. The industrial parts of city would be a Gold mine. Most of the factories and warehouses are fenced in already. Big enough manufacturing plants actually have whole cafeterias, QC labs have water filtering systems and generators. All kinds of supplies. I'd def go to a sporting good store for some zombie armor. Shoulder pads with a cowboy collar, shin gaurds, all that shyt if I couldnt find proper riot gear. Have to improvise I guess. Hit up the public library, wealth of how to books and guides in there.
Head to the coast, find a Marina, steal a big ass yacht, put my people on there and sail around until we find an abandon island

Go to Rikers Island, build a barricade on the bridge to prevent walkers from coming on the island, there's buses and other large vehicles nearby since Rikers is right near LGA Airport. Also lot of food in the terminals, I would imagine the Airports shut down as soon as wildfire got out of hand so it shouldn't be overran 
also loot the planes for some comfortable chairs, etc.
If that's not an option than an Island off of Long Island, a lot of them are connected to the Mainland with either a Bridge or a Ferry, Or a apartment building in Yonkers, they probably would be abandoned, low key city, etc.
Or even go to JFK and find a larger Jet to camp on, as long as you have Jetfuel you'll have a comfortable place to stay with Heat and A/C, etc.
I think you could survive in NY in a ZA long term as long as you don't go into Mantthan, plus NYers are stupid and delusional so there ego and pride have them getting
by walkers more often than other regions. So I doubt the Tri State would have many other survivors.
