my sister in law is currently in her 2nd year of med school. to me, a guarunteed six figure income 10 years from now isn't worth racking up over 100k in student loans.

Definitely a con with Law School...especially a top one.

Med school isn't even a realistic viable option for the majority. Six figure salary is pretty much guaranteed, but there's a lot into going to Med School besides grades. Extracurricular activities, the hours spent shadowing doctors, and time volunteering among your GPA/MCAT scores. shyt is stressful and not worth it unless you're 110% certain.

Dental school and orthodontic certificate.

Orthodontists make 300k plus nowadays (don't believe that BS on salary.com or whatever, I know this for a fact) and if you own your own practice and make it successful, you can rake in even more. Dental(orthodontic) school isn't quite as hard to get into as medical, and you don't have to do residency. It's very difficult though, requires a lot of work.

It is when you're making 200-400k a year, which a lot of them do. I swear these online salary websites undersell medical salaries something fierce.

Nope, I personally know several md's both friends and family. Those figures you read off these salary websites are bs, they tend to make much more than that. They don't even know why their salaries are being reported incorrectly like that.

I'm sure a couple factors need to be taken into account...

location, specialty,working for a profit / non-profit...

From what I heard, the cats who really cake up are engineers who go to work in foreign countries like Dubai. They'll get on projects, where they'll make like 15-30k a month...

Ill def look into it breh. My aunt is a lawyer so ill see what she says. The key is def getting into a top 20 law school though.

Forget that top 20 nonsense. I don't even know what that is as a cut off. But plain and simple there are 14 law schools usually rated above everything else. Get into one of those and if you're a person of color with a STEM background, do IP or Patent stuff and you're guaranteed a job. I had friends in law school who got offered positions before I did with worse grades because of that. That is the surest 160k per year you'll be making right out school that you can get.
