And people need to understand how big tech and IT actually is.
Saying “you need to go into AI” and “You need to learn machine learning” is disingenuous as fukk. That is one small section of IT.
Thing about computer programming nerds is that they think that is all there is to IT and everything else is beneath that… while getting paid 40k less than regular network/system administrators, cyber engineers, etc.
IT is broad. AI has been around forever, and is getting a push for some reason but the average IT job at a low-mid level company will always be there for the time being. I do believe that people will need to evolve soon and AI is a part of that, but it will be difficult to implement this automation in every phase of IT.
Anybody trying to replace regular american IT workers with AI is going to have the same issues that they did when they began outsourcing jobs to India a few decades ago and then realized they were getting scammed and Indians there didn’t know shyt.
I’m sure theyve gotten better, but thats it.
Even Amazon just got busted for saying they used “AI” to determine what customers purchased at their little Amazon store, but was actually outsourcing the data to some poor people in the Philippines to cipher through and determine what customers were purchasing.
This is where AI is at. Trying to get everyone to focus and compete with AI then will slide these other roles to H1B cats who purchased a cert online. Do what will get you paid now and improve.
