Just to be clear, there is nothing inherently better about calisthenics over weight training. (Except, perhaps, it's the most cost effective)

The main issue with weight training is that most people use a body builder's frame work as their guides to working out, and so there is far too much focus on machines and isolation and specific muscle exercises....which most people have zero business doing.

When you're doing bodyweight training, you're dealing with compound movements, which old time lifters have always preached was the basis for all training. And if done properly, this is what one would focus on with weights in a traditional gym

That said, the men in the video are quite fit. Very cool video.

The only "proper" way to build muscle is through progressive overload and consistency. Compound barbell movements, calisthetics, machines, iso movements... doesn't matter; the muscle doesn't know the difference.

Old timers built it and I respect that. But it's our time now  Everything can be improved on.

I'm becoming more of a fan of step loading since most people on progressive overload programs inevitably get injured by not solidifying gains and moving too quickly.

The progession comes when your body adapts and you can do reps with ease.

To add size, you increase the resistance. You can do this by changing position of your body during the movement , usings resistance bands, heavy chains,or weight vests.

My genetics force me to do all these things to add size. People have different genetics. There was a dude in that bar world was was legit diesel from doing high amount of reps

still remember the dude

My nikka Caleb.

Went to High school with breh.

BRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKLLLLLYYYYYNNNN
What’s your diet?
Honestly, I eat like shyt living in Texas but when I was eating mostly clean and vegetarian and drinking less, I was ripped. I gotta switch back to eating healthy. Less meat, more veggies and lots of water. Also subbing out the carbs for whole grains, sprouted wheat, no soy products. Also this stuff produces natural energy to exert during your workout. I also did a lot of boxing training at the BRC.
