At this point I have a feeling he is doing one of the 48 laws, talking himself into the situation.
I don't think he's doing it for clout or money in this case, because I've never seen one person who had a business relationship with him say that he was leeching for their money or being shady with them. He probably (it's flatout a guess) on some level wants to actually do something good to honor pop memory, and put some money into pop's family pockets.
